Job Description

Role Objective

The Bakery Chef will be responsible for leading the pastry and baking section, ensuring the production of high-quality, consistent, and visually appealing baked goods and desserts. This role requires a blend of technical mastery, creativity, and efficient kitchen management.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Production & Preparation:

    • Prepare and bake a wide variety of items, including

      breads

      (sourdough, artisanal, flatbreads),

      pastries

      (croissants, puff pastry),

      cakes

      ,

      cookies

      , and plated desserts, adhering strictly to established recipes.
    • Ensure

      consistent quality

      and taste across all products, following presentation standards meticulously.
    • Manage and execute daily production schedules to meet customer and service demands, especially during peak hours.
  • Recipe Development & Innovation:

    • Develop and test new, creative recipes for seasonal menus, custom orders, and new product lines to keep the offering fresh and competitive.
    • Work with ingredient limitations (e.g., gluten-free, sugar-free, vegan) as required by customer demand.
  • Kitchen & Inventory Management:

    • Oversee the

      ordering and inventory

      of all baking ingredients, ensuring optimal stock levels, minimizing waste, and managing costs to achieve target food margins.
    • Conduct regular checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning and maintenance.
    • Maintain an organized and immaculate

      'Mise en Place'

      (preparation) at the pastry station.
  • Team Leadership & Training:

    • Train, mentor, and supervise junior bakers and commis chefs, ensuring they adhere to all quality and production standards.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance:

    • Strictly adhere to all

      Food Safety and Hygiene standards

      (e.g., HACCP principles).
    • Ensure the bakery area is cleaned and sanitized at all times.
