Job Purpose This position is responsible to ensure execution of all identified projects (greenfield/ brownfield) within the given timeline, resources and budget to meet the desired project outcomes. Implementing projects as per plan to achieve agreed parameters and delivery timelines and undertaking basic engineering and detail engineering. Completing projects within budgeted cost by controlling consumption of resources, inventory as well cost of procurement. Liaising with the vendors/ contractors to set performance expectation setting against predefined criteria. Monitoring project completion status and budget consumption and sharing a status report continually to the senior stakeholders. Identifying deviations in project activities and ensuring counter actions to mitigate any adverse effects due to process deviations. Identifying safety and environmental compliance standards at each stage of the project. The complex has Smelters, Refineries and multiple process plants including Sulphuric Acid Plants, Precious Metal Recovery Plant, Continuous Copper Rod Plants, Phosphoric Acid Plant, Di-Ammonium Phosphate (Fertiliser) plant, Aluminium Fluoride plant as well as Captive Power Plants, Oxygen Plants, WTP- ETP, captive Jetty, residential complex and a CJST medical centre. This role is responsible for giving inputs on estimation and planning as well as executing and commissioning the projects with respect to mechanical aspects at Birla Copper, Dahej for both addition and modification of facilities within budgeted cost and timelines. It involves giving accurate inputs to the planning section for finalization of the scope and estimation of the project, shortlisting the appropriate technology supplier and coordination with basic and detailed engineering supplier throughout the term of the project for engineering, drawing and documentation including standard documents with respect to mechanical engineering associated with the upliftment project. It also involves detailed project scheduling and monitoring of all activities pertaining to civil/structural engineering associated with the upliftment project during execution and commissioning through risk identification and mitigation in the project to ensure plant sustainability and improvement. A key responsibility of this role is resource planning and execution of all the structural buildings and facilities for the project with special focus on installation of the plant equipment and piping support stability. It involves assistance in the stability compliances of the plant and statutory licensing of the upliftment project legal compliance and stability certification of structure Job Challenges Obtaining skilled manpower and other resources including heavy equipment through contractors In view of corrosive environment and location of plant. Needs proper corrosive protection to get desired life of structure and equipment. Space constraint for the installation of the structural and mechanical equipment in operating plants There is need to embed the culture of safety and sustainability and educating the contractual workmen about the criticality of using PPEs and following safety norms Key Result Areas/Accountabilities: Key Result Areas/Accountabilities Supporting Actions Planning Preparing project and resource planning using automated platforms, such as MS Project, for execution of projects with well due risk assessment and mitigation plan, defined scope of work, interface of vendors and Technical Recommendation for materials and services with respect to mechanical aspects of projects Preparing project plans for individual structural jobs requisitioned by the user department Preparing the project wise CAPEX and revenue estimation for mechanical projects Operational Excellence Monitoring and execution of optimum deployment and utilization of resources (manpower, materials, equipment) during project execution Embedding safety culture through use of PPEs and safe work processes to minimize safety incidents and eliminate accidents. Budgetary Controls Completing projects within budgeted cost by controlling consumption of resources, inventory as well cost of procurement through cross functional collaboration Giving inputs for substitution of costly equipment, technology, service provider without compromising quality and durability. Compliances Implementing compliance with Integrated Management System and HSE norms with respect to mechanical projects Preparing documentation for necessary licenses and approvals for execution and commissioning of the upliftment project through submission of relevant documents to the concerned Government departments Monitoring and influencing all service providers, vendors and technology suppliers comply with relevant statutory provisions with respect to manpower, equipment, materials and processes they deploy during project execution Enforcing use of PPEs and safe work processes to minimize safety incidents and eliminate accidents and embed safety culture Customer centricity Implementing good housekeeping in areas under mechanical, painting, insulation and structural Upliftment Minimizing response time in all internal customer queries with respect to projects Planning for job as per available shutdown. Effective utilization of shutdown for Upliftment activity. Sustainability and Systems Improvement Driving and participating in Quality circles, Kaizens Partnering implementation of execution standard for structural, sheeting, painting.
