Role Overview
The Accounts Payable Specialist (India-based) plays a key role in supporting U.S. accounts payable operations. This position processes invoices, communicates with American vendors, and manages payment reconciliations while ensuring adherence to U.S. accounting standards and timelines. The role requires strong attention to detail, cross-cultural communication skills, and experience managing AP processes for U.S. entities.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the full-cycle accounts payable process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies.
- Process invoices, verify accuracy and ensure proper approvals prior to payment.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date accounts payable files in accordance with established protocols.
- Serve as a liaison with vendors to maintain strong, trusted relationships and resolve issues or discrepancies promptly.
- Reconcile vendor statements regularly and address variances in a timely manner.
- Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and strengthen internal controls within accounts payable operations.
- Follow established processes for validating and onboarding new vendors, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Assist with the annual 1099 reporting process, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Role reports to US based Accounting Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in Accounts Payable with exposure to international or BPO-based accounting for U.S. clients
- Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills, ensuring accuracy in financial records and timely completion of accounts payable tasks.
- Experience working with global finance teams is preferred,
- Understanding of U.S. GAAP requirements is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency using ERPs like NetSuite and SAP Concur.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate effectively with U.S. teams across time zones.
- High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues across different levels and geographies.
- This position is based in our office in Gurgaon, India, our work style is hybrid with an expectation of 50% of your time spent in the office.
