Accountant

Job Overview

The Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with accounting standards, and timely reporting. The role involves handling customer and vendor accounting, reconciliations, tax compliance, and supporting month-end and year-end closing activities.

Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Accounting

• Prepare and issue Proforma Invoices, Tax Invoices, and Delivery Notes.
• Send invoices to customers and follow up on outstanding payments as per agreed credit terms.
• Maintain and regularly update Customer Statements of Account (SOA).
• Coordinate with the delivery/logistics team to ensure timely dispatch and billing accuracy.
• Record customer receipts and perform payment reconciliation in the accounting system.
• Maintain proper documentation and organized filing of all customer-related transactions.

Vendor Accounting

• Verify vendor invoices against Purchase Orders (PO) and Goods Received Notes (GRN).
• Maintain Vendor Statements of Account (SOA) and reconcile balances periodically.
• Prepare vendor payment requests as per payment terms and internal approval process.
• Complete Supplier Payment Checklists and submit for management approval.
• Prepare cheques or bank transfers and notify suppliers once payments are processed.

Accounting & Bookkeeping

• Maintain accurate books of accounts and ensure timely posting of all transactions.
• Post journal entries related to accruals, adjustments, depreciation, prepaid expenses, VAT, and corporate tax.
• Perform regular reconciliation of bank, cash, receivables, payables, and inventory accounts.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and statutory requirements.

Month-End & Reporting

• Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Prepare Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable ageing reports.
• Support preparation of Profit & Loss statements and other financial reports.
• Review financial data, compare results with previous periods, and analyse variances.

Tax & Compliance

• Assist with VAT return preparation and filing.
• Support corporate tax calculations and filings as per regulatory requirements.
• Ensure proper documentation for audits and statutory reviews.

Other Responsibilities

• Prepare AMC invoices and coordinate related logistics activities.
• Support management with financial analysis and ad-hoc reporting.
• Coordinate with auditors and internal teams when required.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (Zoho, QuickBooks, or similar).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• GCC experience, especially UAE accounting exposure, is an added advantage.
