As a market leader in providing illiquid portfolio analysis, our Alternative Asset Management professionals assist clients in the valuation of alternative investments, specifically for securities and positions for which there are no active market quotations available. Our professionals have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects with exposure to the bespoke investment structures and asset classes of our institutional investor clientele.
Kroll's Financial Instruments and Technology (complex securities valuation) practice is a leading solutions provider for asset managers, hedge funds, fund administrators, banks, insurers, private equity firms, commodity trading and investment firms, and corporations.A Vice President in the Financial Instruments and Technology group will provide a range of valuation advisory services to the alternative investment community including private equity, venture capital funds, credit and hedge funds, corporations, pensions, endowments, and family offices in assisting those clients with valuation issues surrounding their alternative investments.Day-to-day responsibilities:- Managing client engagements from day-to-day interaction with the client through to staffing and managing the resources and work plan through to timely completion- Individuals will be assigned a wide variety of projects and given as much responsibility as their experience and capabilities permit- Lead client engagements and work with more junior team members to execute valuation and analytics projects including client deal team interviewing, managing engagement economics, team management, developing and reviewing models, report writing, research and tracking market and industry information- Write technical reports, client-focused marketing materials, and presentations.- Model building and reviewing - DCF models, fixed income models, comparable company models, stock option models, financial instrument and complex option models and intangible asset valuation models- Operational relationship management with client, building long-term client relationships through exceptional client service including a deep understanding of the client and their needs, exceptional responsiveness, and the delivery of the highest quality service and work product- Client Interviewing - gathering data pertinent to the engagement- Developing deep technical strength in the valuation of alternative assets, serving as a firm resource for that expertise and sharing that knowledge through training and mentoring.- Field client questions, auditor questions, and investor questions. Articulate and defend a modelling approach under scrutiny.Essential traits:- Master's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting or Economics or equivalent thereof (e.g., CFA); or MBA from an accredited college/university- Minimum of 9-12 years of valuation experience constructing and reviewing valuation models and other financial models including: enterprise valuation using DCF & market approaches, and other structured investment models- Experience with credit analysis or structured securities experience is a plus: CLOs, CMBS, RMBS, ABS, Intex or other tools- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills- A fundamental understanding of financial valuation theory, methodologies, and applications- Excellent understanding of financial statements analysis with the ability to work through key assumptions, implicit caveats and limitations- Excellent attention to detail, strong work ethic, and ability to manage multiple ongoing assignments efficiently and accurately- Familiarity with relevant accounting standards and policies produced and amended from time to time by the AICPA and other oversight bodies- Knowledge of software packages including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint- Direct experience working with VBA, Python, and Power BI is highly desirable- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, comfortable speaking with senior management and in front of an audience- Experience working with diverse teams- Demonstrated leadership experience including managing and developing client relationships as well as mentoring and developing staffAbout KrollJoin the global leader in risk and financial advisory solutions—Kroll.
