About The Role
We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Funnel & Website Builder Team, the group behind one of the most heavily used product surfaces in HighLevel. This team powers the end-to-end experience for building funnels and websites — from real-time editing, rendering, and collaboration, to publishing, optimization, analytics, AI-assisted creation, and global delivery at scale.The Funnel & Website Builder platform processes billions of visitor interactions, powers millions of live pages, and serves mission-critical revenue operations for SMBs worldwide. Reliability, performance, creator usability, and AI-driven automation are fundamental as customers rely on these tools to acquire leads, process payments, run campaigns, and scale their businesses.As a Staff Engineer, you will shape the long-term technical direction of our builder ecosystem, solve complex distributed system and rendering problems, and mentor 10+ engineers across multiple squads working on the Builder, Themes, Publishing, Rendering Engine, Funnels AI, and Integrations. You’ll collaborate closely with product, design, infra, and security teams to elevate engineering standards, drive architectural coherence, and deliver seamless creator and visitor experiences at global scale.
Responsibilities
- Design own architecture and scaling strategy for key Funnel/Website Builder systems (real-time collaborative editor, rendering engine, theme system, publishing pipeline)Lead major cross-cutting initiatives focused on reliability, rendering performance, delivery latency, and workflow consistency across builder surfaces
- Drive long-term technical direction for the Builder’s component framework, visual layout engine, template system, and underlying microservices
- Architect low-latency, high-availability systems that serve traffic across global regions for millions of page loads per second
- Improve platform-wide observability using Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and structured logs
- Create and enforce SLOs around page rendering time, editor responsiveness, AI generation latency, and publishing reliabilityElevate resiliency across builder services through improved caching, CDN strategies, edge rendering, pre-rendering, and failover patterns
- Drive improvements to internal tools, build pipelines, shared component libraries, and design systems powering the Builder ecosystemEstablish coding standards, testing frameworks, and architectural patterns that scale across dozens of engineers and multiple productsLeverage LLM-assisted development workflows to accelerate code quality, refactoring, and debugging while enforcing guardrails for reliability
- Mentor and guide engineers across squads, encouraging technical excellence, growth, and strong engineering fundamentals
- Partner with PMs, designers, infra, and security to define technical roadmap and deliver impactful, high-quality experiences
- Lead design reviews, architecture deep-dives, and on-call rotations that reinforce a high-bar culture of ownership and operational excellence
Requirements
- 8+ years of full stack engineering experience building frontend architectures, distributed systems, real-time platforms, or high-scale user-facing applications
- Deep experience with asynchronous processing, event-driven architectures, caching strategies, and high-throughput APIs
- Strong understanding of relational + NoSQL data modeling, schema evolution, and complex transactional operations
- Hands-on experience architecting frontend systems at scale, especially component-driven architectures and complex editors
- Ability to design systems balancing performance, usability, extensibility, and maintainability
- Experience with CDN and cloud infrastructure.
