Technology & Product Development
Drive R&D in steel pipeline solutions (ERW, SAW, seamless. optimized for transporting pure hydrogen, hydrogen blends and liquid hydrogen in high pressure.Innovate materials and welding techniques to mitigate hydrogen embrittlement, permeability and corrosion.Develop internal and external protective coatings suitable for hydrogen environments and high-pressure conditions.Advanced Testing & Qualification
Set up and lead comprehensive hydrogen-specific testing programs, including:High-pressure hydrogen testing (up to 100–300 bar and beyond. for pipes, welds, and coatings.Fracture mechanics testing – CTOD, J-integral, fatigue crack growth in hydrogen gas environment.Hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC., stress corrosion cracking (SCC., and slow strain rate testing (SSRT..Full-scale burst pressure, cyclic pressure fatigue, and leak integrity testing of pipes under simulated service conditions.Testing of coatings and materials under cryogenic and elevated pressure-temperature cycles.Quality Assurance & Safety Systems
Develop and implement a hydrogen-specific quality management system for lab operations and product validation.Establish strict safety protocols for handling and testing under high-pressure hydrogen conditions, in compliance with ISO/ASME/EIGA standards.Conduct root cause analyses of failures or anomalies and lead systemic improvements in R&D and production recommendations.Standards, Certification & Ecosystem Engagement
Ensure full compliance with global standards such as ASME B31.12, ISO 11114, ISO 15156, API 5L H2 extensions, and DNV-RP guidelines.Drive third-party validation and certification with global bodies (e.g., DNV, TÜV, Lloyd’s..Represent Welspun in industry bodies and hydrogen alliances to stay updated and influence global hydrogen pipeline standards.Internal & External Collaboration
Work with engineering, production, QA/QC, and sales teams to ensure transfer of lab outcomes into scalable, commercial products.Engage with hydrogen producers, gas transmission companies, EPC contractors, and infrastructure players to understand requirements and co-develop solutions.Team Development

Qualifications & Experience: Experience in setting up or managing high-pressure testing facilities is strongly preferred.ter’s or PhD in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Pipeline Engineering. 12–20 years of experience in pipe R&D or pipeline quality/testing, with minimum 3–5 years in hydrogen or high-pressure gas systems.
