Role Title: Senior Network Engineer I

Position Summary:

As a member of the Global Networks – Enterprise Network team, this position is focused on creating and improving network services and solutions that ensure the best experience possible for Marriott Associates and contractors. Working with new technologies including Wireless solutions, preferably with Juniper MIST, Palo Alto SDWAN, fabric-based LANs, AI enabled solutions as well as Cloud based Voice solutions, the successful candidate will provide technical engagement for all phases of the infrastructure lifecycle from ideation through execution, ongoing management, and service retirement / recycle.


Job Responsibilities:

  • LAN / WAN / WiFi network design, engineering, implementation, and optimization for the Corporate Network product, adhering to all applicable standards including architecture, security, privacy, compliance, etc. with a heavy focus on global WiFi networking.
  • Network service and circuit capacity management
  • Project planning and delivery including hardware and software specification, vendor coordination, and full operational turnover
  • Change planning and run book review
  • Governance of third-party service providers
  • Level 3 escalation support for operational issues and/or outages
  • Collaborate with other key teams including Network Architects, Test and Certification, Information Security, Finance, Procurement, etc.
  • Participate in product strategy and planning
  • Develop and execute new initiatives to simplify, standardize, optimize, and automate the network designs, tooling, and operations, reducing implementation cycle times, minimizing/eliminating service downtime, and optimizing performance


Skill and Experience:

  • 4+ years of progressive experience in enterprise networking, with a focus on wireless,

    SD-WAN, and LAN infrastructure.
  • Expertise in enterprise wireless protocols, RF site surveys, and security best practices. Hands on experience including deployment, optimization, and troubleshooting of platforms such as Mist AI, Cisco Wireless, or equivalent.
  • Proven hands-on experience with SD-WAN (Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN experience preferred) including policy configuration, site provisioning, and performance tuning.
  • Strong understanding and implementation experience with Fabric-based LAN architectures (e.g., Cisco LAN Fabric, HP Flex Fabric)
  • Proficient in Layer 2/3 networking concepts, including VLANs, STP, OSPF, BGP, and multicast.
  • Skilled in network monitoring, diagnostics, and performance tools (e.g. Wireshark, Net Brain, Thousand Eyes, ADEM).
  • Technical knowledge and experience with telco and ISP networks, ensuring diversity and managing availability
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to lead network design and implementation projects independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours during change implementations and service restoration efforts


Other Skills and Attributes:

  • Experience creating or leveraging automation, AI and machine learning to deploy and manage networks
  • Development and deployment of virtualized network services
  • Understanding of cloud networking solutions and cloud interconnects
  • Vendor experience: Cisco LAN / WAN / WiFi; HPE/Mist WiFi; Palo Alto Networks FW and SDWA NetScout, Thousand Eyes, NetMRI, ServiceNow, Oracle SBCs and VOIP
  • Exposure to and familiarization with CCaaS (Contact Center as a Service) environments to include 14IP, CXOne and others.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with other non-Network technical teams and non-technical customers


Education and Certifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience / certification
