Business Title Senior Legal Counsel
Global Function LegalGlobal Department Legal (DEP_LEGAL)Size of team reporting in and type 0Role Purpose Statement As legal business partner, the AGC provides strategic legal counsel and support to the business activity and operations of, including managing the legal department supporting, India RegionMain Accountabilities Legal Support: Provide general and strategic legal counsel and support on all country legal matters, encompassing advisory, transactional, litigation, regulatorycompliance, employment and other issues to proactively identify and address legal risks and issues.
  • Management: Be a part of India legal team fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. Plan and implement any required organizational changes in
structures and processes for optimisation of productivity, efficiency, profits and for preparation for future requirements and development.
  • Partnering: Partner with global functions, regional/ global legal department and Centres of Excellence (COEs) to ensure a unified approach to legal issues across Bunge.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure legal compliance and support the Region’s business objectives.
  • Business Relationships: Partner with Regional management and key stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of the business strategies, strategic legal issues,
challenges and opportunities, key customers, competitors, suppliers and industry environment to proactively address issues faced and opportunities presented.
  • Documentation: advise on, draft and/or review all commercial documentation as required and utilised in the Region to minimise exposures. Define and implement
templates, processes and standards for all contractual documentation.
  • Transactional: Negotiating and structuring specific corporate development projects including acquisitions, divestments, mergers and joint ventures ensuring favourable
terms for Bunge.
  • Regulatory: Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, advising on necessary adjustments to business strategies and operations within the Region.
  • Representation: Represent the company before authorities, administrative or before quasi-judicial agencies in the Region.
  • Commercial/Criminal Disputes/Litigation/Arbitration: Manage and advise on resolution of pre-litigation commercial disputes, settlements, arbitrations and any other
litigation arising to protect Bunge’s interests. Monitor and report on legal fees/ reserves. Define and implement measures and processes to minimize claims.
  • Training: conduct basic and advanced training on relevant legal topics in the Region.
  • Legal Support Technology: Engage, manage, utilise, promote and support the Bunge implemented legal technology solutions including CLM, Docusign, tracker and
other systems as introduced.
  • Reporting: Provide AGC with required reports on litigation, projects and costs timely and comprehensively.
  • External counsel Management: Develop, oversee and manage relationships with external law firms and consultants in order to create and leverage optimal quality and
cost efficiencies, including strict cost budgeting and management.

  • Qualified lawyer
  • 10-12 + years experience in as an in-house attorney in a multinational corporation( FMCG) and/or in an reputed law firm.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others and to build relationships and trust.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex legal agreements and contracts.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) in English and Hindi, Marathi, with the ability to effectively convey legal concepts to both legal and non-legal audiences.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
