About The Role
InvoiceCloud is scaling rapidly and building the next generation of our enterprise-grade SaaS platform. As our engineering organization expands—particularly in our new Hyderabad office—we’re looking for a
QE Evangelist
who can redefine what quality means in a high-velocity product environment.This is not a traditional “head of testing” role. Instead, it’s an opportunity for a hands-on change agent and technical leader to embed quality ownership across 20 scrum teams. The QE Evangelist will drive a mindset shift where
everyone—developers, SDETs, and product owners alike—sees testing as integral to delivery, not a downstream activity.Reporting to the
VP of Engineering
and sitting on the
engineering leadership team
, this leader will guide the modernization of our quality practices, accelerate automation adoption, and foster a culture where speed and quality coexist.
Responsibilities
Cultural Leadership & Influence
- Serve as a catalyst for change, inspiring teams to take ownership of quality and testing outcomes.
- Lead by influence, not hierarchy—partnering with 20 scrum teams to elevate quality as a shared engineering value.
- Champion a shift-left testing philosophy, where quality starts at design and coding, not after deployment.
- Build bridges between development, product, and operations to create a culture of trust, collaboration, and craftsmanship.
- Evangelize modern testing mindsets through storytelling, internal workshops, and quality “office hours.”
Technical Excellence & Enablement
- Demonstrate hands-on technical expertise in modern test frameworks, CI/CD, and automation tooling—show teams how to achieve better quality.
- Guide the evolution of our testing architecture, helping teams modernize tools, environments, and practices to support rapid, high-quality releases.
- Partner with SDETs embedded in scrum teams to ensure alignment on test automation strategy, coverage goals, and best practices.
- Influence engineering standards for code quality, test design, observability, and reliability.
- Lead proof-of-concept initiatives that introduce forward-looking quality technologies (AI-assisted testing, test impact analysis, etc.).
Execution & Measurable Impact
- Define and track meaningful KPIs for quality outcomes—defect escape rate, automation coverage, regression time, and release confidence.
- Translate cultural adoption into quantifiable improvements in delivery velocity and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with Engineering, DevOps, and Product to integrate quality metrics into our delivery dashboards and decision-making.
- Create feedback loops to continuously refine our testing strategies and tools based on data and developer input.
Strategic Alignment
- Partner closely with the VP of Engineering, Product, and Platform leads to align quality strategy with overall product and technical direction.
- Serve as a visible voice for quality within the engineering leadership team—advocating for the long-term health and resilience of our platform.
- Bring external perspective by staying current on industry best practices, quality frameworks, and emerging technologies.
Qualifications
Experience
- 12+ years in software quality engineering or software development, including significant experience influencing quality practices across multiple agile teams.
- Proven success driving cultural transformation—shifting organizations from test-after to test-early mentalities.
- Experience in modern test automation (UI, API, integration, performance, and contract testing) within cloud-native environments.
- Background in enterprise-grade SaaS or large-scale distributed systems preferred.
- Experience collaborating with globally distributed teams.
Technical Expertise
- Deep understanding of automated testing frameworks and continuous delivery pipelines (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, TestNG, JUnit, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.).
- Strong grasp of CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred).
- Knowledge of observability, performance testing, and quality metrics instrumentation.
- Familiarity with emerging testing paradigms such as test impact analysis, chaos testing, and AI-driven test generation.
Leadership & Communication
- Exceptional ability to influence without authority—comfortable guiding senior engineers and teams through change.
- Adept at storytelling and communicating complex quality concepts in simple, motivating ways.
- Strategic thinker with an experimental mindset—willing to iterate, measure, and adapt.
- Passionate about mentoring engineers to become quality champions.
