Job Summary

Sambodhi Research and Communications Private Limited is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to lead and support process monitoring field teams; undertake secondary and primary data analysis, including matching techniques, sampling design, and survey data analysis. Contribute to the development and refinement of questionnaires and monitor the quality and integrity of survey data collection to ensure rigor and reliability of evaluation outputs. The position also requires close coordination with project teams and stakeholders to ensure rigorous, timely, and policy-relevant evaluation outputs.

Essential Functions

The candidate will perform the following key functions:


Project Management & Coordination

  • Assist in client and stakeholder interactions on technical and analytical matters under the guidance of the Senior Impact Evaluation Specialist.
  • Coordinate day-to-day analytical and data-related project activities, collaborating closely with field, data, and support teams.
  • Support the preparation and tracking of resources related to data management, analysis, and reporting activities.
  • Contribute to timely delivery of analytical outputs and support adherence to project timelines and quality standards.

Research Design & Methodology

  • Provide technical inputs to survey design, evaluation frameworks, and econometric approaches from an analytical perspective.
  • Support development, pre-testing, refinement, and finalization of data collection instruments and field protocols.
  • Assist in implementing sampling strategies, including sample size calculations, stratification, and distribution for analysis.

Field Operations & Data Collection

  • Support field trainings, pilot testing, and debriefing sessions to ensure adherence to data collection protocols.
  • Monitor and resolve data-related issues in coordination with field teams, including tool logic, sampling, and data consistency.

Data Management & Analysis

  • Develop and implement data analysis plans, including data cleaning, variable construction, and quality assurance checks.
  • Conduct quantitative and econometric analysis using statistical software such as STATA, SPSS, SAS, and Excel.
  • Maintain well-documented datasets, analytical code, and outputs to support reproducibility and review.

Report Writing and Knowledge Product Dissemination

  • Draft analytical sections of evaluation reports, including methods, results, and interpretation of findings.
  • Support senior team members in reviewing, validating, and finalizing analytical outputs and knowledge products.
  • Contribute to presentations, learning notes, and other dissemination materials for internal and external stakeholders.

Desired profile :

Education

Degree (MSc or MA preferred) in economics, statistics, public policy, development studies, or a related discipline focused on quantitative/data-based course work.

Experience

At least 5-8 years of experience in data analysis, and supervision of household surveys/experimental/quasi-experimental impact evaluations. Experience in rural collectives, livelihoods, value chain/enterprise development. Proficiency in statistical software package STATA or R. Must have completed at least 2 large survey-based research studies


Key Skills and Attributes

  • Fluency with both quantitative and qualitative research
  • Professional fluency in oral and written English and Tamil is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of MS office, STATA, or other statistical packages for data analysis
  • Willing to travel across different geographies
