Job Description

General Accountant Job Responsibilities:Prepare Financial Statements Compile and analyze financial data to produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Maintain General Ledger Record journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts. Manage Accounts Payable/Receivable Oversee outgoing bills and payments, and ensure incoming payments are tracked and recorded properly. Budgeting and Forecasting Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts; monitor actual performance against budget. Ensure Compliance Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies (e.g., GAAP, IFRS, tax laws). Assist with Audits Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation. Tax Preparation and Filing Prepare and file tax returns; ensure proper documentation for tax deductions and credits. Analyze Financial Data Interpret financial data and trends to provide insights and support business decisions. Process Payroll Calculate wages, deduct taxes, and manage payroll-related accounting entries (if applicable). Support Month-End and Year-End Close Processes Participate in period-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Optional (Depending on Role):Inventory Accounting Track inventory costs and reconcile stock records (for manufacturing or retail). Fixed Asset Management Track and depreciate fixed assets, and ensure accurate asset registers. ERP/Accounting Software Use Use software like QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Xero to perform accounting functions. Financial Policy Development Assist in developing and updating accounting policies and procedures.
