Job Description

Position Summary ::

We are offering the opportunity to play a central role in the clean energy transition and a challenging role at the forefront of OT/IT/cybersecurity convergence. We can provide competitive compensation and benefits package with Professional development and certification support if required.

Key Responsibilities

1. SCADA System Design & Management (OT Focus)

  • Design, configure, program, and maintain SCADA hardware and software platforms for renewable generation assets.
  • Develop and manage Human-Machine Interface (HMI) screens, alarms, historical data logging, and reporting.
  • Integrate SCADA systems with field devices: inverters, wind turbine controllers, BESS controllers, meters, relays, and weather stations using industrial protocols (Modbus TCP/RTU, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-101/104, IEC 61850, OPC UA/DA).
  • Implement and troubleshoot control logic and sequences for plant automation, including power set-point control, frequency response, and grid compliance functions.
  • Support commissioning activities for new assets and retrofits.
  • Manage real-time data collection, performance monitoring, and ensure data integrity for production reporting.

2. IT/OT Infrastructure & Integration for Project & Operational Asset

  • Design and maintain the underlying OT network architecture (routers, switches, firewalls) segregated from corporate IT networks.
  • Manage virtualized server environments (VMware, Hyper-V) hosting critical SCADA applications.
  • Oversee the secure integration between OT networks and IT business systems (e.g., Asset Management, GIS, O&M platforms, ETRM systems).
  • Implement and manage data historians (e.g., OSIsoft PI) and data gateways for enterprise-level analytics.
  • Coordinate with corporate IT for shared services (domain services, patching, backups) applied to the OT environment under a shared responsibility model.

3. Cybersecurity Program

  • Serve as the site-level subject matter expert for OT/ICS cybersecurity, implementing and enforcing the company's cybersecurity framework (aligned with NIST SP 800-82, IEC 62443, NERC CIP).
  • Harden SCADA systems, network devices, and endpoints by applying security configurations, patches, and vulnerability management processes specific to OT environments.
  • Manage perimeter and segment security using next-generation firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and unidirectional security gateways.
  • Conduct regular security risk assessments, audits, and tabletop exercises.
  • Develop and maintain documentation: network diagrams, asset inventories, data flow diagrams, security policies, and incident response plans for OT.
  • Monitor security alerts from OT SOC or SIEM tools and lead incident response activities for OT events.
  • Monitor CEA compliance across all platforms.

4. Support & Compliance

  • Provide 24/7 tier-2/3 support for SCADA system issues, coordinating with field technicians and OEM vendors.
  • Ensure SCADA systems comply with grid interconnection requirements, regulatory standards, and market operator rules (e.g., NERC, FERC, CAISO, ERCOT, NEC, ISO-NE).
  • Develop and maintain detailed system documentation, SOPs, and change management records.
  • Train operations and engineering staff on SCADA system use and cybersecurity best practices.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation / Electronic / Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting SCADA systems in an industrial or energy setting (renewables highly preferred).
  • Strong proficiency in OT protocols: Modbus, DNP3, IEC 60870-5, OPC.
  • Proven experience with industrial networking (switching, routing, VLANs, VPNs) and architecture (Purdue Model).
  • Direct experience implementing OT cybersecurity controls: firewall policies, access control lists, security zoning.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure during critical plant events.
  • Strong communication skills to interface with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Highly Desirable ::

  • Experience with specific renewable energy SCADA platforms and inverters (SMA, Power Electronics, Sungrow, etc.), wind turbines (GE, Vestas, Siemens Gamesa), or BESS controllers (Fluence, Tesla, LG).
  • Certifications: GICSP, GRID, CISSP, CCNA, or other relevant cybersecurity/network certifications.
  • Knowledge of grid codes and market participation via SCADA.
  • Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell) for automation and tooling.
  • Experience with cloud (AWS, Azure) integration for IIoT applications.
