Job Description

Role Overview

Functional QA Analyst – OpenText Documentum / OpenText Document Management

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze business and functional requirements for OpenText Documentum / OpenText Document Management solutions and translate them into detailed test scenarios and test cases.
  • Perform functional testing across document lifecycle processes, including document creation, versioning, metadata management, retention, archiving, and disposal.
  • Validate OpenText workflows, business rules, and approval processes to ensure alignment with business operations.
  • Test role-based access controls, permissions, and security configurations to ensure compliance with governance and regulatory standards.
  • Perform integration testing between OpenText and upstream/downstream systems (ERP, CRM, portals, scanning/OCR tools, email systems).
  • Execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) in collaboration with business users, supporting test execution, defect triage, and sign-off.
  • Validate document search, indexing, retrieval, and performance against functional requirements.
  • Conduct regression testing during upgrades, patches, and enhancements to ensure no impact on existing functionality.
  • Log, track, and manage defects through their lifecycle using standard defect management tools.
  • Ensure test documentation is complete and compliant with quality standards, including test plans, test cases, and test execution reports.
  • Collaborate with developers, solution architects, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve functional issues.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on experience in

    functional QA testing of OpenText Documentum or OpenText Document Management

    platforms.
  • Strong understanding of document management concepts: document lifecycle, metadata, taxonomy, retention policies, and records management.
  • Experience testing workflows, security models, and role-based access controls in OpenText solutions.
  • Familiarity with OpenText modules such as Content Server, Documentum D2, Records Management, or Archive Center (preferred).
  • Experience with UAT coordination and business stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, GDPR, FDA 21 CFR Part 11 – where applicable).
  • Proficiency with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., ALM, JIRA, Zephyr).
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience testing OpenText integrations with SAP, Salesforce, or other enterprise platforms.
  • Exposure to OpenText upgrades, migrations, or cloud deployments.
  • Basic understanding of SQL and backend data validation.
  • Knowledge of test automation tools for document management systems.
