Job Description

Job Title: Purchase Manager

Department: Purchase / Procurement

Location: Pollachi

Reports To: Head – Operations

Job Summary:

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Purchase Manager to handle procurement operations for FMCG, Fresh Fruits & Vegetables (F&V), and novelty products. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing reliable vendor networks, negotiating competitive prices, and planning purchases to ensure optimal stock levels and timely availability of goods.

Key Responsibilities:

Vendor Development

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new vendors for various product categories including FMCG, F&V, and novelty items.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with suppliers to ensure product quality, timely delivery, and reliability.
  • Regularly assess supplier performance based on price competitiveness, quality, service, and compliance.
  • Develop alternate vendor sources to mitigate supply risks Pricing Negotiation
  • Negotiate favourable pricing, terms, and conditions with vendors to reduce procurement costs while maintaining quality.
  • Track market rates, seasonal trends, and raw material price fluctuations to make informed decisions.
  • Work closely with finance and category teams to align pricing with margins and promotional planning.

Purchase Planning

  • Forecast demand based on sales trends, stock turnover, and seasonal patterns.
  • Plan procurement cycles to maintain optimal inventory without overstocking or shortages.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and sales teams to ensure alignment between purchase planning and stock movement.
  • Monitor purchase order status and follow up for timely deliveries.

Category-Specific Focus

  • For FMCG: Ensure constant availability of high-moving items; manage supplier compliance and delivery KPIs.
  • For F&V: Source fresh and perishable items efficiently; monitor shelf life, quality, and local vendor capabilities.
  • For Novelty Products: Identify unique or seasonal items to increase customer engagement and variety in the product range.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, vendor agreements, pricing logs, and contracts.
  • Ensure all procurement complies with company policy and legal/regulatory standards (FSSAI, GST, etc.).
  • Collaborate with audit and finance teams for inventory verification and documentation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 4-5 years of experience in procurement or purchase management (preferably

in FMCG or retail).

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor relationship skills.
  • Knowledge of ERP or procurement software tools (e.g., Tally, Zoho, SAP, etc.).
  • Ability to handle multi-category sourcing and fast-paced environments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to ₹35,000.00 per month
