Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Product Development Manager at Avni Jewels in Surat. The Product Development Manager will oversee new product development, lead market research, and identify innovative opportunities to meet market demands. Responsibilities include managing product life cycles, coordinating with design and manufacturing teams, and ensuring product offerings align with market trends. The role will also involve collaboration with sales teams to refine strategies for customer engagement and product success.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Product & Collection Development

Lead the development of new jewellery collections across categories (gold, diamond, silver, fashion, bridal, etc.)

Translate market trends, customer insights, and brand direction into viable product concepts

Collaborate with designers to finalize designs, materials, stones, and finishes

Ensure designs meet aesthetic, technical, and commercial requirements

Trend, Market & Competitive Analysis

Research global jewellery trends, materials, craftsmanship techniques, and consumer preferences

Analyze competitor collections, pricing, and positioning

Work closely with marketing and merchandising teams to align product strategy with target customers

Sourcing & Vendor Management

Coordinate with suppliers, artisans, and manufacturers for materials, gemstones, and components

Evaluate and onboard new vendors based on quality, cost, and reliability

Negotiate costs and timelines while maintaining quality standards

Prototyping & Sampling

Oversee CAD development, wax models, and sample production

Review samples for design accuracy, craftsmanship, comfort, durability, and finish

Ensure timely sample approvals to meet launch schedules

Costing & Commercial Viability

Prepare and review product costing, ensuring target margins are achieved

Optimize designs and materials to balance aesthetics, quality, and cost

Support pricing strategy in coordination with finance and merchandising teams

Production & Quality Control

Ensure smooth handover from development to production teams

Monitor production feasibility, lead times, and capacity planning

Implement and maintain quality standards across all product lines

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with design, merchandising, marketing, supply chain, and other teams

Support product launches, catalog development, and sales training with technical product knowledge

Skills & Competencies

Technical & Industry Skills

Strong understanding of jewellery manufacturing processes (casting, stone setting, polishing, finishing)

Knowledge of metals, gemstones, diamonds, certifications, and quality standards

Experience with CAD/CAM jewellery development (preferred)

Costing, margin analysis, and commercial decision-making ability
