Job Summary for Production Planning & Control

A Production Planner & Controller is responsible for the strategic and tactical management of a company's production schedule. This role involves planning, implementing, and monitoring the manufacturing process to optimize resource utilization, minimize costs, and ensure on-time delivery. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, organized, and has a deep understanding of manufacturing workflows and supply chain principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Production Scheduling:

   Develop, manage, and adjust daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on customer orders, sales forecasts, and inventory levels. They ensure that manufacturing runs smoothly and efficiently.

• Inventory and Materials Management:

   Monitor and control inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods to prevent shortages or excess stock. They coordinate with procurement and warehousing teams to ensure timely availability of materials for production.

• Capacity Planning:

   Analyze production capacity and forecast future needs to ensure that the company has the necessary equipment, labor, and resources to meet demand.

• Workflow Coordination:

   Act as a central point of contact between different departments, including sales, engineering, purchasing, and quality control. They manage the flow of work and materials to avoid bottlenecks and disruptions.

• Data Analysis & Reporting:

   Collect and analyze production data, such as cycle times, waste rates, and on-time delivery performance. They prepare reports for management to highlight trends, identify areas for improvement, and track key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Problem-Solving:

   Proactively identify and resolve issues that may disrupt the production schedule, such as equipment breakdowns, material shortages, or quality control failures.

• Continuous Improvement:

   Implement and promote process improvement methodologies such as 

  Lean Manufacturing

   and 

  Six Sigma

   to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Education:

   A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field is typically required.

• Experience:

   Proven experience as a Production Planner, Production Controller, or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.

• Technical Skills:

• Proficiency with 

  ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)

   and 

  MRP (Material Requirements Planning)

   systems.
• Strong 

  data analysis

   skills, especially with tools like Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
• Familiarity with production planning software and scheduling tools.
