The Planning Engineer works closely with project managers, site supervisors, engineers, and stakeholders to anticipate potential delays, implement mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with project milestones. With 5 years of hands-on experience in construction planning and scheduling, the ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in managing complex project timelines, utilizing advanced scheduling tools, and driving continuous improvement in project delivery performance. This role is essential to maintaining project momentum, optimizing workflow efficiency, and supporting data-driven decision-making across all project phases.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using industry-standard software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Coordinate with project teams to gather accurate activity duration, resource requirements, and dependencies.
  • Perform critical path analysis and schedule risk assessments to identify potential delays and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor project progress against the baseline schedule and report variances to project leadership.
  • Conduct regular schedule reviews and update forecasts to reflect current project status and upcoming milestones.
  • Prepare and present schedule reports, progress dashboards, and performance metrics for internal and client stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with procurement, operations, and site teams to align material deliveries, labor deployment, and equipment availability with the project timeline.
  • Support change management processes by evaluating the impact of scope changes on the project schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with project-specific scheduling standards and contractual obligations.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior planning personnel and support continuous improvement in planning practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in construction project planning and scheduling.
  • Proven expertise in using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project for schedule development and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and critical path management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as CPM (Critical Path Method), Earned Value Management (EVM), and scheduling best practices.
  • Experience working in large-scale infrastructure, commercial, or industrial construction projects is highly preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
