Job Description

Location: Gurgaon, Haryana

Reports To: Head of HR


Role Overview -

The Payroll Manager will oversee the complete payroll function for the organization, ensuring accurate and timely salary processing, adherence to Indian statutory requirements, and a smooth employee experience. This role demands strong technical knowledge of Indian payroll laws, meticulous attention to detail, and effective coordination with HR and Finance teams.


Key Responsibilities -

  • Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing for all employees with 100% accuracy and within defined timelines.
  • Maintain and update employee records for new hires, exits, promotions, and salary revisions.
  • Ensure statutory compliance, including timely calculation, deduction, and remittance of:

 - EPF/ESI (Employees’ Provident Fund & Employees’ State Insurance)

  - TDS (Tax Deducted at Source)

  - Professional Tax, Labour Welfare Fund, Gratuity, and Bonus as applicable.

  • Prepare and file all statutory returns (PF, ESI, PT, TDS) and handle annual activities such as Form 16 and Form 24Q filing.
  • Coordinate with Finance for payroll accounting, bank transfers, and reconciliation of payroll-related accounts.
  • Generate and share payroll MIS reports, variance analyses, and cost summaries with management.
  • Address and resolve employee payroll queries and discrepancies promptly.
  • Stay up to date on amendments to Indian labor laws, Income Tax Act provisions, and payroll best practices; implement necessary process changes.
  • Liaise with external payroll vendors and technology providers to ensure smooth system operations and upgrades.


Qualifications & Skills -

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field; MBA or HR specialization is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of payroll experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial/supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian payroll legislation and statutory compliance (EPF, ESI, TDS, Gratuity, Professional Tax, etc.).
  • Proficiency in payroll/HRIS software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, ADP, greytHR, Darwinbox) and advanced Excel skills.
  • High integrity and ability to handle confidential employee data with discretion.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
