Job Description

Role Overview

The Operations & Marketing Executive – Rail Logistics will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of rail-based cargo movement and developing marketing initiatives to grow the company’s customer base. This role requires a balance between operational excellence, client relationship management, and strategic marketing execution to ensure smooth logistics and revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Coordinate and manage end-to-end rail logistics operations, including scheduling, loading/unloading, documentation, and dispatch.
  • Monitor freight movements to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any operational bottlenecks.
  • Liaise with Indian Railways / private rail operators for wagon placements, route planning, and freight optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with railway regulations, safety protocols, and company policies.
  • Oversee vendor management, including handling transporters, terminals, and warehouses.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for shipments, invoicing, and MIS reporting.
  • Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce turnaround times.

Marketing & Business Development

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote rail logistics services to potential clients in manufacturing, FMCG, steel, cement, and other sectors.
  • Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and emerging trends in rail logistics.
  • Prepare marketing materials, presentations, and proposals for client pitches.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers to drive repeat business.
  • Collaborate with digital marketing teams to enhance the company’s online presence.
  • Track competitor activities, pricing strategies, and market positioning.

Coordination & Reporting

  • Work cross-functionally with finance, operations, and customer service teams for seamless execution.
  • Prepare periodic performance reports, including cost analysis, revenue tracking, and operational KPIs.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management for improving operational efficiency and market reach.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 3–7 years of experience in rail logistics, freight forwarding, or transport operations.
  • Strong understanding of Indian Railways procedures, freight booking, and logistics cost structures.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP/logistics management software.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines.
