Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CAD Support Senior Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide advanced technical support and maintenance for CAD software, assist engineering and design teams with complex CAD-related tasks, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to process improvements in CAD workflows. This role demands strong expertise in CAD tools, problem-solving capabilities, and effective communication skills to support a dynamic engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated CAD software support and troubleshooting for engineering/design teams.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and updating of CAD software systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve software and hardware-related CAD issues efficiently.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to CAD procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize CAD workflows and improve productivity.
  • Conduct training sessions and user support to enhance CAD software proficiency among team members.
  • Coordinate with software vendors and IT departments for issue resolution and system upgrades.
  • Assist in the customization and automation of CAD tools via scripting or other programming techniques.
  • Monitor CAD system performance and recommend improvements.
  • Support the integration of CAD data with other engineering software or PLM systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest CAD technologies, tools, and industry trends

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in CAD software support or a related technical role.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with CAD customization, scripting (e.g., VBA, Python), and automation is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of engineering/design processes and terminology.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and provide timely support in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with PLM, PDM, or ERP systems is an advantage

Preferred Knowledge/Skills *:

  • Advanced knowledge of platforms such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or similar industry-standard CAD tools
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., VBA, Python, LISP) to create macros, automate repetitive tasks, or develop custom CAD tools.
  • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or Product Data Management (PDM) software for managing CAD data and revisions (e.g., Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill).
  • Understanding of IT infrastructure related to CAD environments, including software installation, licensing, network drives, and server configurations.
  • Familiarity with CAD file versioning processes and tools.
  • Strong diagnostic skills to identify, analyze, and resolve software or hardware issues affecting CAD performance.
  • Awareness of industry drafting standards and CAD documentation best practices.
  • Understanding of CAD interoperability, file formats (DWG, DXF, STEP, IGES), and data exchange protocols.
  • Awareness of optimal hardware specifications for CAD performance, such as GPUs, RAM, and workstations
  • Ability to rapidly troubleshoot and resolve a broad range of CAD-related technical issues.
  • Strong ability to interact effectively with engineering teams, IT staff, and external vendors.
  • Experience conducting training sessions, creating user guides, and supporting end-user adoption.
  • Managing competing demands and providing prioritized support in a dynamic environment.
  • Identifying workflow bottlenecks and recommending CAD process enhancements.
  • Capability to analyze CAD workflows and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Comfortable learning new tools and adapting to changing technologies or organizational needs.
