This role requires coordination between merchandising, production, and planning teams to ensure that product lines are aligned with business objectives and consumer preferences. About the Role The Manager of Merchandising and Planning is responsible for developing and executing merchandising strategies and production plans that optimize sales, manage inventory, and meet market demands. Responsibilities: Merchandising Strategy: Develop and implement merchandising strategies that align with market trends, consumer needs, and company objectives. Work with design and product development teams to ensure that product offerings meet quality standards and market demands. Production Planning: Create and manage production plans that align with merchandising strategies, sales forecasts, and inventory requirements. Coordinate with production teams and manufacturing partners to ensure that production schedules are met and products are delivered on time. Monitor production progress and resolve any issues that impact timelines or product quality. Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels to balance stock availability with demand, minimizing both stockouts and excess inventory. Analyse inventory data and adjust plans to optimize stock levels and profitability. Forecasting and Analysis: Utilize historical data, market trends, and sales forecasts to create accurate production and merchandising plans. Monitor production performance and inventory metrics to identify trends and make data-driven decisions. Prepare reports and presentations on merchandising and planning performance for senior management. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with design, production, supply chain, and marketing teams to ensure cohesive execution of product lines and promotional activities. Participate in cross-functional meetings to align on product development, production schedules, and marketing strategies. Vendor and Supplier Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective production. Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate terms to optimize cost and quality. Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for merchandising and planning activities, ensuring alignment with financial goals. Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or efficiency. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, Merchandising, Fashion, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in merchandising, planning, or production management within the garment industry. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis, forecasting, and inventory management. Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans, manage budgets, and lead cross-functional teams. Proficiency in merchandising and planning software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Required Skills Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams.
