Job Description

1.    Create accurate 2D and 3D models of elevator mechanical components using AutoCAD and SolidWorks as per design briefs and technical requirements.  2.    Translate engineering concepts, sketches, and verbal instructions into manufacturable engineering drawings adhering to Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing , sheet metal, and fabrication standards. A.    New Product Development (NPD) Assistance 1.    Actively support the D&D Manager in executing new product development projects by contributing to prototyping, design feasibility studies, and validation trials.  2.    Conduct benchmarking, reverse engineering, and initial drafting for new products and product improvements.   B.    Design Customization & Engineering Support  1.    Modify standard product designs based on customer-specific requirements while ensuring compliance with technical feasibility, safety norms, and production constraints. 2.    Provide engineering support to the Sales and Production teams during customer order execution, ensuring all customization is documented and approved.   C.    Design Documentation & ERP/PLM Integration  1.    Prepare and update accurate Bills of Materials (BOM), drawing sheets, revision records, and engineering specifications for all assigned components. 2.    Ensure timely and error-free entry of design data into ERP and PLM systems, maintaining strict version control and traceability. 3.    Organize and manage drawing archives, revision histories, and master files for reference and audits.   D.    Engineering Change Management  1.    Implement approved Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) under supervision, ensuring all affected documents are updated. 2.    Coordinate with internal departments to execute design updates with minimal disruption to production or supply chain. 3.    Maintain detailed records of change implementation timelines, reasons, and approvals.   E.     Quality Compliance & First Time Right Design  1.    Follow internal design standards, templates, and review protocols to minimize design errors and rework. 2.    Participate in internal design verification and validation activities, including stack-up analysis and tolerance checks. 3.    Contribute to root cause analysis of design-related non-conformities and support corrective action implementation. F.     Cross-Functional Coordination & Manufacturing Support 1.    Liaise with Production, Purchase, and Quality teams to ensure seamless design-to-manufacture transitions. 2.    Participate in tooling trials, first article inspections, and layout feasibility discussions to confirm the suitability of designs for manufacturing.  3.    Address design-related queries during fabrication and assembly, ensuring quick resolution and continuous improvement.   G.    Continuous Improvement & Learning  1.    Engage in knowledge enhancement through CAD certifications, technical workshops, and internal training sessions.  2.    Actively contribute to departmental Kaizen initiatives, suggesting ideas for design simplification, cost reduction, or performance improvement.   Maintain awareness of industry trends, material innovations, and design practices relevant to elevator mechanical components.
