Position Title
Mechanical Architect / Mechanical Lead
Purpose of Function
- The Mechanical Architect / Mechanical Lead‘s, primary function is the end-to-end design & development of GMS, WPI, Value Anesthesia systems, subsystems, and similar healthcare products.
- Design and development of mechanical components and subsystems, ensuring integration into the system from concept design, and detail design to design transfer, production ramp-up, and sustenance.
- Develop a detailed plan for designing and developing sub-systems and components, and follow-up for execution.
- Attain project milestones and stage gates, ensuring on-time completion of deliverables within the project quality framework. Track and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the LCM.
- Utilize CAD software to create precise 3D models and detailed engineering drawings and maintain accurate records of design changes and revisions using PDM/PLM tools.
- Create test plans and specifications, develop test setups and fixtures, and execute verification and reliability testing.
- Engineering Change Management and Issues/Defect Resolution: Identify and solve technical challenges, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead/Chair the Engineering Control Board / Product Steering Board for overseeing the entire lifecycle of a product, project, or process from its inception to its end of life.
- Coordinate with suppliers for part and sub-system development and qualification.
- Identify applicable standards for product compliance in Mechanical design, ensuring strict adherence to design standards.
- Provide support for organizational and departmental initiatives, including design transfer and localization efforts.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Responsible for writing technical documents including TSSR, Purchase Specifications, Verification plan, procedures, etc. for mechanical systems, reviewing with cross-functional teams, and releasing.
- Develop detailed plans for designing and developing sub-systems in line with the project milestones.
- Prepare and Conduct concept design reviews and detailed design reviews with SMEs and Global experts.
- Design sub-systems and components according to the committed schedule, ensuring target cost adherence.
- Define reliability goals for sub-systems, design accordingly, and demonstrate set targets through testing
- Prepare FMEA, assess product risks in advance, and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Review part designs with suppliers, ensuring Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles are followed.
- Review designs with cross-functional teams, including Electrical and other teams.
- Ensure the incorporation of Design for Assembly (DFA) principles for optimized assembly and Design for Serviceability (DFS) considerations to enhance product serviceability and maintenance.
- Develop and test prototypes, focusing on functionality and user experience.
- Ensure consideration and adherence to applicable quality and regulatory standards.
- Review tool design and part development schedules, ensuring timely inputs for tool development.
- Be responsible for limiting part development iterations to a maximum of 2 times.
- Develop cost-effective designs, contributing to meeting the product Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
- Review part inspection reports, conduct applicable tests, and release verification reports.
- Support the Verification and Validation (V&V) team in completing compliance tests.
- Support the Manufacturing (MFG) team in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and be involved in Beta and O-series builds.
- Drive engineering design changes, maintain revision control, and oversee change control processes.
- Participate in quality audits and demonstrate adherence to the quality management system.
- Contribute to the localization of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Manage purchase requisitions, and proto part consumptions in alignment with project needs.
Education
Degree in Mechanical Engineering
