Job Summary: The Production Manager for the Sofa Unit is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the manufacturing process to ensure the efficient, high-quality, and timely production of our sofa products. This role requires a strong leader with extensive knowledge of furniture manufacturing, a focus on quality control, and the ability to manage a diverse team. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver who can optimize production workflows, reduce waste, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Oversight:
Plan, coordinate, and supervise all daily production activities within the sofa manufacturing unit, including frame building, cutting, sewing, upholstery, and final assembly.
Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery deadlines.
Monitor and control production processes to ensure products meet quality standards and specifications.
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, equipment malfunctions, and material shortages.
Team Management & Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and train a team of production staff, including supervisors, skilled craftsmen, and assemblers.
Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Ensure all staff adhere to company policies, safety protocols, and quality standards.
Manage staffing levels, including hiring, scheduling, and overtime as needed.
Quality & Process Improvement:
Implement and maintain robust quality control procedures at every stage of the production process.
Analyze production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and waste elimination.
Champion lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., 5S, Kaizen).
Work closely with the design and R&D teams to ensure new products are manufacturable and meet quality targets.
Inventory & Materials Management:
Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of raw materials (wood, foam, fabric, springs, etc.).
Oversee inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods to prevent shortages or excess stock.
Minimize material waste and manage scrap rates effectively.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing all company safety policies and procedures.
Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
Maintain compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience:
Minimum of [e.g., 5-7] years of experience in a production management role, preferably within the furniture or upholstery manufacturing industry.
Proven experience managing a team of [e.g., 20+] employees.
Strong technical knowledge of the sofa manufacturing process, including wood framing, cutting, sewing, and upholstery techniques.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
