Job Description

Job SummaryThe purpose of this position is to provide paramount support to the Nextpower Operations Team with quick responses to Nextpower Project Managers on request for information (RFI). Provide on-site field training on new products. Assist with PowerworX training at Nextpower Center for Solar Excellence in Hyderabad, India. Assist with least cost remediation for construction deviation reports (CDR) and non-conformance reports (NCR). This is a customer facing role with Contractors and Owners, as needed.The Manager of Field Applications (India) reports to the Senior Manager of Field Applications. Works collaboratively with Nextpower cross-functional leadership: Senior Manager of Product Applications, other Field Applications team members, Product Applications, Project Managers, Project Engineering, Tooling, Mechanical Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Document Management and Safety.This position will be responsible for identifying and helping resolve field issues related to documentation, quality (NCR), and construction deviation reports (CDR).

Here Is a Preview Of What You’ll Do

  • Primary responsibility is Request for Information (RFI) Response – India & Middle East Regions – related to Nextpower mechanical builds
  • Manager’s role:
    • Train-the-Trainer (Nextpower CMs in India & Middle East Regions) as needed, for new products
    • Training remediation: “needs improvement” installation: Construction Deviation Report (CDR), and supplier Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
    • Support Customers on-Site for Key Product Release/Resolution of Issues (≤25% of total work hours)
    • These are short on-site trainings lasting 2-4 days on-site to provide train-the-trainers, on-site remediation support, and new product build guidance
    • Lead/Manage (future) Field Applications Team members
  • Assess field related issues to determine root cause (Six Sigma)
    • Installation error
    • Supplier quality (Non-Conformance)
    • Design Analysis for Cause
  • Evaluate compatibility of various Nextpower products and components
    • Components as-built
    • Replacement parts – find local sourced replacement parts (and have NX Engineering review and approve)
  • Review of Product Installation Documents
    • Installation Manuals
    • Construction Set
    • Technical Bulletins (TBN)
    • Support Document Management Team in updating existing; or
    • Assist in recreating new TBNs (project specific or companywide)
    • Submit TBN new or update requests using the NX Jira ticket system
  • Develop reports on overall installation of tracker and components
Standardization
  • Analyze and suggest areas for value engineering to provide most ideal solutions; assist in reducing of line items/part numbers (PNs)
  • Time studies/installation evaluation
  • Product improvement reports for improved installation

Ideal Candidate

    • Current Nextpower employee, Nextpower Contractor, or have worked on Nextpower jobsite(s).
      • Ideally in one of these roles: Site Superintendent, Assistant Site Superintendent, Construction Manager, Field Engineer, or Quality Manager
      • Preference to current Nextpower Subcontractor or full-time employee (FTE)
    • Field Applications Engineering experience (Mechanical), 2+ years minimum
    • Ability to Author (edit and/or write) Technical Documentation
    • Experience in training construction personnel
    • Ability to analyze in Field Engineering Solutions with a Scope, Schedule, Cost perspective to find most value Engineered solution(s)
    • Nextpower Solar Tracker Experience minimum 2 years
    • Documentation skills including (use of): Arena, NetSuite, Jira, ProCore, or similar platforms
    • Comfortable in a dynamic atmosphere with a rapidly expanding customer base and product offering (our products constantly change & improve; so, do our Team members)
    • English as a secondary language

Here Is Some Of What You’ll Need (required)

    • Work in India without needing Nextpower sponsorship
    • B.S. Mechanical Engineering (or similar) or extensive field knowledge for mechanical construction
    • Minimum 2 years of mechanical / structural engineering experience with Nextpower solar trackers, PV panels, or other ground mounted solar tracking systems or applicable technology or 5 years with other solar trackers
    • This is a customer facing and Project Manager (support role). Interpersonal skills are essential
    • Proven ability to solve complex problems (technical aptitude)
    • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate professionally: verbally (group), in writing, and with presentations
    • Updating documents in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and others (like Confluence)
