, our dynamic team continues to drive innovation and deliver value.As we look ahead, we remain committed to shaping smarter, more sustainable spaces, ensuring that our legacy of excellence continues to thrive for years to come.The Manager – Design & Development is responsible for leading the design, engineering, and development of new products, improving existing product lines, and ensuring all designs meet performance, quality, manufacturability, and cost targets. This role drives innovation, manages design projects end-to-end, coordinates with cross-functional teams, and supports production through engineering expertise.

Product Design & Engineering

Lead the development of new products from concept, prototyping, testing to final release.Review and approve 2D/3D designs, detailed drawings, BOMs, and engineering documents.Ensure designs meet standards for functionality, safety, reliability, and manufacturability.Conduct tolerance analysis, material selection, and design calculations.Drive design changes and implement Engineering Change Notices (ECN/ECR).

Project Execution & Management

Define project scope, timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables.Track project milestones and ensure timely completion of each development phase.Conduct design reviews, feasibility studies, and risk assessments (FMEA).Coordinate prototype development, testing, validation, and documentation.

Innovation & Product Improvement

Identify new product opportunities, material advancements, and innovative solutions.Analyse competitor products for benchmarking and cost/product optimization.Lead cost reduction initiatives through design modifications and process improvements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with production, QA/QC, procurement, sales, and installation teams.Support production through design clarifications, troubleshooting, and technical guidance

Documentation & Compliance

Maintain complete technical documentation: drawings, revisions, test reports, design history files.Ensure compliance with industry standards, certifications, and customer requirements.Support QMS/ISO audit processes with required design documentation.

Team Leadership & Development

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of design engineers and draftsmen.Set individual KPIs, review performance, and enhance team capability.

Customer Interaction

Understand customer requirements and convert them into practical design solutions.Participate in technical discussions, presentations, and customer approvals.Provide engineering support during customer trials, mock-ups, and product demonstrations.

Skills

Strong expertise in CAD software (SolidWorks/Creo/AutoCAD/etc.).Knowledge of product development lifecycle (PDLC).Design for Manufacturing (DFM) & Design for Assembly (DFA).Understanding of materials (aluminium, steel, plastics, die-cast processes).Experience in prototyping, tooling, mold/die design, and fabrication techniques.Knowledge of tolerance stack-up, and engineering calculations.Familiarity with testing standards and certification requirements.Strong project management and time management skills.Ability to lead a technical team and drive results.Good communication, presentation, and customer-handling skills.
