Shift:

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.) and related applications to meet business needs. 
• Proactively monitor system performance, analyze logs, and ensure high availability of infrastructure and applications. 
• Perform routine maintenance, including patching, upgrades, backups, and capacity planning. 
• Develop and maintain shell scripts, Python, or Ansible scripts for automation of routine tasks and configuration management. 
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to manage, configure, and deploy resources through automation. 
• Apply security best practices by hardening Linux systems, managing access control, and configuring firewalls. 
• Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and implement necessary patches to comply with security policies. 
• Manage storage solutions, including SAN, NAS, and local disk storage configurations. 
• Ensure regular backups and disaster recovery procedures are in place, tested, and followed. 
• Manage and configure virtualized Linux environments, including VMware, KVM, or container platforms like Docker and Kubernetes. 
• Work with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud to deploy, monitor, and optimize Linux-based solutions. 
• Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues, and escalate as necessary. 
• Provide Level 2/3 support to resolve technical problems and ensure system resilience. 
• Monitor system performance and conduct tuning to ensure efficient resource utilization. 
• Optimize server and network configurations to improve system uptime and reduce latency. 
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation, including configuration, operational procedures, and incident logs. 
• Prepare regular reports on system performance, security compliance, and resource utilization for management review. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered. 
• Minimum of 4 -7 years of experience as a Linux Systems Engineer/Administrator in enterprise environments. 
• Proven experience with Linux distributions like RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or Debian. 
• Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, etc.) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). 
• RHCE, LFCS, or CompTIA Linux+ are highly desirable. 

SKILLS:

• Proficiency in shell scripting and at least one additional programming language (Python, Perl, etc.). 
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, LDAP, and DHCP. 
• Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef. 
• Knowledge of monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, etc.). 
• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and experience with hybrid environments. 
• Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose complex issues and optimize performance. 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document technical processes and convey information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. 
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive attitude. 
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment, prioritize multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
