Job Summary ( Lead Engineer – Oil Free Rotary Screw Compressors )

Location: Ahmedabad

This position will be a strong individual contributor driving engineering initiatives, which deliver growth, gross margin, cost saving and product integrity control, support manufacturing operations, and meet customer requirements through product enhancement / productivity projects and engineered solutions. This position mainly focus on design & development of screw compressors with high level of customization, i2v / VAVE principals, New product development and reliability of products. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams including Sales, Tendering , Supply chain, Operations & Quality and Services.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for design & development of air compressor components and packages Oil free Rotary screw air compressors.
  • Responsible for release of drawings and BOM for new design or custom engineered solutions in ERP system.
  • Responsible for managing Engineering design related work for productivity improvement projects through effective participation on cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure performance, quality, and reliability are maintained throughout the design cycle.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of engineering design, documentation, and bill of material for products.
  • Strong knowhow of handling big consultants documentation of customized compressor projects
  • Investigate and execute engineering change (or product improvement) requests, non-conforming material reports and supplier deviation change requests.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with team members within engineering and from other departments.
  • Provide input on continuous improvement opportunities for design processes as well as products.
  • Supporting customized project execution working with operations/sales/service for day to day activities
  • Solving complex technical problems in a structured approach using engineering problem solving tools.

Qualifications

BE/ME/ M. Tech in Mechanical Engineering with excellent academics with minimum of 8+ years of experience in product design and development in air compressors field.

Key Competencies

  • Solid background in design and manufacturing principles, with experience in screw compressors sub-system and system design.
  • Strong technical technical and analytical capabilities
  • Experience of managing packaging of screw compressor for complex applications like Marine and oil gas as per API 619 standard
  • Plant or manufacturing set-up related exposure experience is preferred
  • Experience with quality and reliability processes, supplier qualification, and part approval requirements
  • Ability to navigate projects or opportunities with limited definition and provide business and technical feedback on their merit
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to peers and groups and break down complex analysis into a format that can be understood by non-technical audience.
  • Knowledge of designing air compressor, drafting and computer aided design, applies knowledge to assigned tasks; or knowledge in product definition, product configuration, and bills of materials, and applies knowledge to tasks.
  • Good understanding of product configuration and product applications are a plus.
  • Proficiency in tolerance stack up and in design calculations is required
  • Proficiency with CREO is must to have and able to guide team members on 3-D modelling and drafting. Knowledge of PLM (Windchill) and Oracle is a plus.
