Job Description

Position Summary

Responsible for overseeing and managing labour relations activities for FC India. This includes overseeing and negotiating labour contracts, resolving labour disputes, creating, and implementing L&ER policies, and providing guidance and training to managers and supervisors. This position often works closely with union representatives (internal and external) for healthy industrial relations, statutory and local governing bodies, factory supervisory staff to ensure compliance with employment and other applicable laws. Will also work closely with other plant HR Teams (internal and external), sharing and benchmarking Labour & Employee Relations practices.

Responsibilities

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliances & implementation of various provisions regarding health, safety and welfare of the employees laid down under Factories Act & other various Act.
  • Conduct Audits to ensure Parker and Contractors are compliant to all applicable statutory requirements.
  • Preparing Annual Returns, Half yearly Returns, and Maintaining Statutory Registers and complying all the statutory requirements under Factories Act, Contract Labour Act and other various Act.
  • Liaising with various Government Authorities like Revenue, Police, Judicial, EB, Labour, PF and ESI Department for filing returns, obtaining approvals / clearances.
  • Attending Labour Court, Industrial Tribunals, Case hearings in PF & ESI, & Conciliation meetings; following up the court cases.
  • Co-ordination with advocates for employment related cases in the Courts / Tribunals
  • POSH Committee and Awareness Sessions, Regular meetings with employees.
  • Engagement

  • Developing and maintaining harmonious and progressive employee relations through two-way communication and employee involvement.
  • Conduct cultural intervention programs, Team building programs, Employee Benefit Schemes, Sports activities, Community Relationship Development activities etc., to enhance motivation levels and productivity.
  • Support in facilitation of department workshops and various engagement programs on Total Employee Involvement (Suggestion, KAIZEN, 5S etc.,)
  • Lead and guide various committees like Canteen, Sports & Recreation Clubs.
  • Organise Skip level meetings and conduct open and cross communication meetings.
  • Industrial visits for Union office bearers sharing the best practices in the industry
  • Grievance & Discipline

  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures related to industrial relations.
  • Handling complaints, managing grievance procedures, and facilitating counselling in conjunction with other stakeholders.
  • Handling issuance of warning letters, show cause notice, for absenteeism, leave overstay, negligence as well as charge sheet for the misconduct.
  • Performing domestic enquiries, attending complaints, resolving employee grievances, settling disputes within the organization, and taking disciplinary action when required.
  • Investigating and resolving complex or critical industrial relations issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Effectively manage and resolve labour disputes, including contract negotiations, prevention of strikes, and other forms of industrial action

Strategic IR

  • Prepare briefings for executive management on various labour relations issues.
  • Contribute with inputs to strategize on workforce reduction by planning major downsizing exercises or complex individual cases and by preparing costing reviews, various downsizing scenarios and consulting legal services for complex cases.
  • Strategize on Staff Augmentation initiatives to improve flexibility and productivity enhancement.
  • Develop and maintain an expertise on various working conditions in similar organizations, trends, jurisprudence, etc. by keeping up to date on labour relations literature, developing a network and participating in various interdepartmental/agency committees.
  • Union Management and LTS

  • Managing relationship with unions and Participate in Long-Term Wage Settlements
  • Along with the Plant Manager is an integral member of the team representing management in the negotiation.
  • Prepare strategies and review drafts of collective agreements, ensuring that negotiations are properly documented.
  • Educate plant management on negotiated contract changes and assist with implementation where required.
  • Coordinate the operations of the Labour-Management Consultative Committee, including preparation of the agenda on behalf of management and documentation of discussions. Actively contribute to the establishment of a positive relationship with the union.
  • Work closely with Legal Counsel and Management towards preparation for the potential mediation or arbitration and ensure settlements or court orders are followed/implemented correctly.
  • Drafting / and certification of Standing Orders
  • Welfare measures

  • Manage Employee Services like Canteen and Transportation.
  • Organize various welfare activities such as Safety & Health Programs, Cultural Programs, Picnics, Entertainment Party, Management- employee get together.
  • Preparing Health Calendar of Employees and conducting periodical medical exams for all employees.
  • Handling matters of Insurance like Workmen Compensation, Group Health, and Group Personal Accident Policy.
  • Provides counsel to workers regarding Parker Policies
  • Assisting safety team for auditing of safety, environment, health, welfare, and sanitation services.
  • Working with Safety team for investigating accidents and make PDCA analysis to prevent any future incidents.
  • Develop and implement programs to foster positive employee relations

Qualifications

  • MBA HR / MSW with 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing industry. Law degree is an added advantage.
  • Proven track record of successful negotiations and creating beneficial labour relations.
  • Skilled negotiator with extensive knowledge of labour laws and regulations. Experience resolved labour disputes and maintained positive relationships with unions.
  • Well-versed in labour law and best practices.
  • Lead and manage labour negotiations and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Serve as a liaison between the company and union representatives.
  • Provide guidance and direction to employees on labour laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to labour relations.
  • Resolve conflicts between management and employees.
