Job Purpose

The HR Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing HR policies, ensuring statutory and donor compliance, and managing all human resource functions across the organization. The role supports the organization’s mission by building a compliant, ethical, and people-centric work environment.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • HR Policy & Governance
  • Develop, implement, and review HR policies in alignment with organizational values and legal frameworks
  • Prepare and maintain employee handbook, code of conduct, POSH policy, safeguarding and ethics policies
  • Ensure uniform application of HR policies across projects and locations
  • Statutory & Legal Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labour laws and statutory requirements (PF, ESIC, PT, Gratuity, Shops & Establishment, CLRA, etc.)
  • Handle statutory filings, audits, inspections, and liaison with government authorities
  • Manage POSH compliance, Internal Committee functioning, and awareness programs
  • Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment for program, field, and support roles
  • Plan manpower requirements aligned with project timelines, grants, and budgets
  • Coordinate with program heads for role clarity and recruitment planning
  • Employee Lifecycle Management
  • Oversee onboarding, confirmation, transfers, promotions, performance reviews, and exits
  • Maintain employee records, contracts, HR documentation, and personal files
  • Ensure compliant and smooth separation processes including full and final settlements
  • Payroll, Compensation & Benefits
  • Supervise payroll processing, statutory deductions, reimbursements, and benefits administration
  • Design and manage compensation structures in line with donor norms and internal equity
  • Ensure timely salary disbursement and accurate payroll reporting
  • Performance Management & Capacity Building
  • Implement performance appraisal systems aligned with organizational impact goals
  • Identify training needs and coordinate learning and development initiatives
  • Support leadership development, succession planning, and employee growth
  • Employee Relations & Engagement
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven work culture
  • Handle employee grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution
  • Drive employee engagement, wellness initiatives, and retention strategies

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s /Master’s degree in Human Resources, Social Work, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5–10 years of HR experience, preferably in NGOs / Non-Profit / Development sector
  • Strong knowledge of Indian labour laws and statutory compliance
  • Experience working with donor-funded projects is an advantage
