Job Description

Head of Operations: 12-24 LPA - annual salary. (Industry: Hospitals and Healthcare)


Role:


1. Daily Operational Oversight

Ensure timely opening and functioning of all hospital departments.


Conduct daily rounds to monitor operational readiness, infrastructure, IT assets, and logistics across all departments.


2. Facility & Infrastructure Management

Ensure hygiene and cleanliness in hospital interiors and surroundings.


Supervise upkeep of temple, garden, parking, and general infrastructure.


Monitor laundry operations (linen hygiene, ironing, weight, audits).


3. Non-Clinical Workforce Management

Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and training of non-clinical staff (GDA, housekeeping, etc.).


Monitor staff grooming, uniform compliance, attendance, and shift rosters.


Conduct performance evaluations and manage staff development programs.


4. Food & Beverage (F&B) Services

Monitor canteen operations for food quality, hygiene, item availability, pricing, and menu standards.


5. Security Management

Ensure security personnel adhere to rosters, dress codes, and attendance.


Coordinate with local police stations during public disturbances or emergency situations.


6. Patient Services & Frontline Operations

Supervise front desk operations to ensure courteous and accurate communication with patients and attendants.


Ensure smooth patient admission/discharge and minimize waiting times.


Oversee OPD/IPD billing accuracy, proper code usage, and professional conduct.


Ensure timely and transparent patient counselling regarding services and charges.


7. Compliance, Safety & Regulatory Standards

Maintain hospital compliance with NABH, JCI, and other accreditation standards.


Conduct safety drills, monitor infection control, and ensure proper medical waste disposal.


Keep policies and SOPs updated and followed across departments.


8. Vendor & Inventory Management

Maintain healthy vendor relationships and ensure rate contracts (L1, L2, L3) are up to date.


Oversee procurement of supplies (medical and administrative) with a focus on preventing shortages or overstocking.


Conduct regular stock audits, PSV, and control unnecessary daily purchases.


Monitor and maintain AMC/CMC contracts for all equipment.


9. Crisis & Emergency Management

Develop and lead emergency preparedness plans.


Respond promptly to crises (e.g., fire, outbreaks, power failures) with resource mobilization and communication strategies.


10. Quality Improvement & Performance Monitoring

Participate in quality audits and lead implementation of corrective actions.


Define KPIs, analyze departmental performance, and drive continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).


11. Energy & Utility Management

  • Monitor electricity and diesel consumption to ensure cost-effective and efficient usage.


Experience:


8–12 years of total experience in hospital or healthcare operations, Minimum 3–5 years in a leadership or department head role, Experience in multi-specialty hospitals, NABH-accredited institutions
