Job Description

Position Overview:


The Head of Human Resources (HR) will provide strategic leadership and vision for all HR functions at GLA University, ensuring the university’s workforce is effectively managed, developed, and supported.

This role will work closely with university leadership, faculty, and staff to create a positive, inclusive, and high-performing work environment.

The Head of HR will oversee recruitment, operations, employee relations, performance management, and HR compliance while aligning HR practices with the university’s mission and goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership

    : Lead the HR department in supporting the university’s strategic objectives by providing high-level expertise in talent management, workforce planning, and organizational development.


  • Talent Acquisition

    : Oversee recruitment efforts for faculty, staff, and administrative positions, ensuring that the university attracts top-tier talent. Manage the onboarding process to ensure smooth integration of new hires.


  • Employee Relations

    : Serve as a key advisor on employee relations matters. Develop and implement policies and procedures that foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment. Address and resolve any workplace conflicts, ensuring compliance with university policies and legal requirements.


  • Compensation and Benefits

    : Oversee salary reviews, performance-based pay, and benefits packages.


  • Performance Management

    : Develop and implement performance management systems that align with the university’s goals. Provide support and guidance to department heads and managers in evaluating and developing staff performance.


  • Employee Development

    : Oversee the development and implementation of training and professional development programs for employees at all levels. Foster a culture of continuous learning and growth.


  • HR Analytics and Reporting

    : Utilize HR metrics and analytics to measure the effectiveness of HR programs and initiatives. Provide regular reports to senior leadership on HR trends, employee satisfaction, and organizational health.


  • Leadership and Team Development

    : Lead and develop the HR team, providing coaching and support to ensure their growth and effectiveness. Promote collaboration within the HR department and with other university departments.


Qualifications:

  • Education

    : Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (required). Master’s degree in a relevant discipline or HR certification (preferred).


  • Experience

    : Minimum of 12-15 years of progressively responsible HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role,

    preferably in a higher education environment.
