Job Description

Position : Hardware Test EngineerLocation: Bommasandra, Bangalore

Role Overview:

We are hiring a Hardware Test Engineer to own and drive end-to-end hardware testing, validation, and reliability for next-generation smart wearables, including smart rings, watches, and health trackers.

This role focuses on ensuring electrical correctness, sensor accuracy, wireless performance, low-power behavior, manufacturability, and field reliability of highly miniaturized wearable hardware systems from prototype through mass production.

The ideal candidate has deep hands-on experience with hardware bring-up, debugging, automated test development, and production QA in compact, low-power consumer or health devices.

Key Responsibilities – Hardware Testing & Validation:System Bring-up & Debugging
  • Lead board bring-up and electrical validation of new hardware designs (MCU, sensors, power, RF).
  • Debug complex hardware issues involving analog front ends, power integrity, sensor noise, and wireless performance.
  • Use lab tools (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer) for root-cause analysis.

Sensor & Signal Validation
  • Validate and characterize optical and bio-sensing systems including:
  • PPG, ECG, SpO₂, temperature, proximity, ambient light, skin-contact sensors.
  • Evaluate signal quality, noise, drift, motion artifacts, and environmental sensitivity.
  • Work closely with firmware and algorithms teams to ensure sensor data integrity and repeatability.

Power & Low-Energy Testing
  • Measure and optimize current consumption across all operating modes (active, sleep, deep sleep).
  • Validate battery life claims, charging behavior, fuel gauge accuracy, and power sequencing.
  • Perform power profiling and leakage analysis for ultra-low-power systems.

Wireless & RF Validation
  • Test and validate Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) performance:
  • TX/RX power, sensitivity, packet error rate, coexistence.
  • Support antenna tuning, RF matching, and enclosure impact analysis.
  • Prepare hardware for Bluetooth SIG and regulatory certification testing.

Reliability & Compliance Testing
  • Define and execute environmental, mechanical, and stress tests:
  • Thermal cycling, humidity, ESD, drop, vibration, sweat exposure.
  • Support EMI/EMC pre-compliance testing and issue mitigation.
  • Ensure readiness for regulatory and certification requirements.

Manufacturing Test & QA
  • Design and guide automated hardware test setups for factory production.
  • Develop test plans, test fixtures, and test coverage strategies for manufacturing QA.
  • Analyze production failures, yield loss, and RMA data; drive corrective actions.
  • Work closely with manufacturing partners to improve yield, consistency, and reliability.

Documentation & Process
  • Own hardware validation plans (HVPs), test reports, and qualification documents.
  • Define test criteria, pass/fail thresholds, and release readiness.
  • Contribute to building scalable hardware testing frameworks for future products.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or related fields.
  • 3–6 years of hands-on experience in hardware testing, validation, or bring-up.
  • Strong experience with:
  • Analog and mixed-signal circuits
  • Optical and bio-sensor validation
  • Low-power embedded hardware testing
  • BLE / RF validation and debugging
  • Power and battery system testing
  • Deep familiarity with lab instrumentation and measurement techniques.
  • Proven experience supporting hardware transition from prototype to mass production.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience testing wearables, hearables, or health-monitoring devices.
  • Exposure to automated production test systems (ATEs, fixtures, scripts).
  • Knowledge of medical or consumer compliance standards (ISO 13485, IEC 60601 – plus).
  • Experience working closely with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.

Candidate Profile
  • Strong debugging mindset with high attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working across analog, digital, RF, and sensing domains.
  • Highly hands-on, ownership-driven, and execution-focused.
  • Passionate about building reliable, production-ready hardware, not just prototypes.
