Global Security Services - Security Analyst
Role Summary:
Security Analyst is a role within Cybersecurity. The analyst supports the organization by finding and verifying data sources, ensuring the business is in control of its data, and creating and optimizing searches, ensuring effective data retrieval, analysis, visualization, and reports around the data, along with responsibility of managing, reviewing, and coordinating security exemption requests across the enterprise. The role ensures that all deviations from established security controls are properly risk-assessed, documented, approved, tracked, and reviewed in line with internal compliance standards The analyst collaborates closely with the IT, Security, architecture and operations team to meet data quality and business needs, measuring adherence to directives and reporting findings to divisional CISOs.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and execute searches to retrieve, analyze, and visualize data. • Optimize existing queries for performance and efficiency.
- Interpret and analyze data from various log sources to identify patterns, anomalies, and trends.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on search results and data analysis. Design, create, and maintain dashboards to provide a clear visual representation of data.
- Generate regular and ad-hoc reports with capabilities and basic visualizations, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and alignment with business objectives
- Customize visualizations (e.g., charts, graphs, tables) to represent data clearly and effectively.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across all searches, dashboards, alerts, and reports. Troubleshoot and resolve data discrepancies and issues promptly.
- Work closely with IT, security, and business teams to understand their data needs and provide relevant solutions.
- Document search queries, dashboards, alert configurations, and report specifications for future reference and knowledge sharing.
- Administer and maintain the security exemption process within ServiceNow, ensuring requests are accurately logged, categorized, and processed within SLA.
- Work with control owners, application teams, and risk stakeholders to evaluate, document, and mitigate security exceptions.
- Coordinate with Information Security, Compliance, and IT teams to ensure exemption reviews are performed periodically and tracked through closure.
- Identify recurring exemption trends, support root-cause analysis, and contribute to continuous process improvements.
- Prepare KPI, KRI, and SLA reports on exemption handling, aging, and closure rates.
- Support audits, internal audits, and management reviews by providing exemption process evidence.
- Ensure risk acceptance documentation meets organizational and regulatory standards.
- Facilitate awareness and training for business and IT users on exemption request procedures.
Responsibilities and authorities
- Authority to request security-related data from divisional technology teams
- Access to security control frameworks and information security directives
- Authority to recommend changes to data collection methods to improve quality
- Responsibility for the accuracy and timeliness of security control reporting
- Reporting to the Security Architect on all security data analytics matters
- Participation in security governance forums as a data analytics specialist
- Collaboration with divisional security teams to understand their specific environments
Key competences:
- Critical: Strong data analytics skills – ability to identify, collect, clean, analyze, and interpret complex datasets.
- Critical: Proficiency in Splunk dashboard development, specifically using Dashboard StudioElearning
- Critical: understanding of complex user experience (UX) principles for effective data presentation and dashboard design.
- Proficiency in Power BI dashboard development.
- Hands-on experience managing workflows in ServiceNow (GRC, IRM, or custom modules preferred).
- Strong understanding of security policies, control frameworks, and standards
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills — able to explain technical risks in business language.
- Collaborative and accountable — demonstrates ownership and follows through on assigned tasks.
- Analytical mindset with an ability to learn quickly and adapt to evolving security and compliance requirements.
- Experience preparing metrics and dashboards (SLA, KRI, KPI) preferred.
- Ability to work with diverse data sources and technologies.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Data Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Languages: English (High proficiency required for communication and documentation).
Experience: 5 to 8 years relevant experience
- Computer skills: Skills in Power BI and Splunk (Dashboard Studio). Proficiency in data manipulation tools/languages (e.g., SQL, Python) is a plus.
- Experience: Proven experience in data analysis, data visualization, and dashboard creation. Experience working in a security-related field or analysing security data is preferred.
