Job Summary:

The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the company’s transportation operations, ensuring efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction. The role requires a leader with strong experience in the transportation and logistics sector, capable of streamlining operations, managing fleet and manpower, and implementing strategic plans to drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities:1. Operations Management

• Oversee day-to-day transportation operations including fleet management, route planning, and timely delivery.
• Ensure optimal utilization of vehicles and drivers to achieve maximum efficiency.
• Monitor trip performance, fuel usage, and vehicle maintenance schedules.
• Coordinate with clients and internal teams to ensure smooth logistics execution.
• Implement cost control measures and minimize downtime.

2. Business Growth & Client Management

• Identify new business opportunities in transportation and logistics.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure repeat business and satisfaction.
• Negotiate transportation contracts, pricing, and service agreements.
• Develop strategies to expand fleet operations and client base.

3. Team Leadership & Coordination

• Lead and manage the operations, dispatch, maintenance, and driver management teams.
• Conduct regular team meetings to review performance and resolve operational issues.
• Motivate staff and drivers to maintain discipline, punctuality, and service quality.

4. Financial & Cost Management

• Prepare and manage budgets related to transportation operations.
• Monitor expenses such as fuel, tolls, repairs, and ensure profitability per route/trip.
• Review billing, trip settlements, and payment follow-ups.

5. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with RTO, labor laws, and transportation regulations.
• Oversee vehicle documentation, insurance renewals, and permits.
• Implement safety standards for drivers, vehicles, and transport operations.

6. Reporting & Performance Review

• Track KPIs and operational targets; suggest improvement actions.
• Report key performance updates to the Managing Director.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Graduate / Postgraduate
• Minimum 10–15 years of experience in the Transportation (Fleet Management, Route Operations, Client Handling, etc.).
• Proven track record of managing large fleets and teams in a transportation setup.
• Strong operational, analytical, and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship management abilities.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MIS Reporting, and Transport Management Software.
