Job Description

About the Role

We’re building a Shopify app that helps merchants prevent Google Merchant Center suspensions by automatically scanning their store, fixing policy gaps, and managing GMC feeds (including safe, sequential A/B tests). We’re looking for a Full-Stack Developer who can own the technical architecture from MVP through scale.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll lead the design and development of the entire product: Shopify integration, Google API connections, and a clean, merchant-friendly UI.

Responsibilities

  • Architecture & Build

  • Lead end-to-end development of the Shopify app (Node.js/TypeScript backend, React/Polaris frontend).
  • Design secure authentication flows (Shopify OAuth, Google API OAuth).
  • Build robust database models (e.g., Postgres/Firebase) to store store data, policies, and feed configs.

  • Shopify Integration

  • Use the Admin GraphQL API to create/update pages (e.g., Privacy Policy, Returns, Contact).
  • Inject structured data (Organization, Product schema) and manage metafields/metaobjects.
  • Handle billing with Shopify Billing API (subscription tiers).

  • Google Merchant Center Integration

  • Connect via Content API for Shopping & GMC API to pull diagnostics, flag policy issues, and manage feeds.
  • Implement supplemental feed management and

    sequential A/B testing

    workflows for titles and images.
  • Build automated syncing of product data between Shopify and GMC.

  • Frontend Development

  • Build merchant-facing UI in Shopify Polaris (React).
  • Create intuitive dashboards: misrepresentation scan results, “one-click fixes,” feed/test management, and GMC health status.
  • Ensure responsive, fast-loading app performance.

  • Scalability & Security

  • Ensure data privacy and compliance with Shopify/Google terms.
  • Build APIs to handle large merchant catalogs efficiently.
  • Write testable, maintainable code with proper CI/CD pipelines.

  • Collaboration

  • Work with Product Manager and UX to scope MVP features.
  • Collaborate with designer/content writer on policy templates.
  • Support early QA and onboarding for pilot stores.

Requirements

  • Technical

  • 4+ years professional full-stack development experience.
  • Strong with

    Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL (or similar), React/Next.js, GraphQL

    .
  • Experience building

    Shopify apps

    (OAuth, Billing API, GraphQL Admin API, Polaris).
  • Experience with

    Google Merchant Center Content API

    and/or Google Ads API.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes a plus).

  • Nice to Have

  • Prior work on e-commerce apps or feed management.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP/AWS) and scaling SaaS apps.

  • Soft Skills

  • Startup mentality: bias toward shipping and iterating fast.
  • Comfortable working independently in a lean team.
  • Strong communication skills for translating technical challenges into business tradeoffs.
