We're looking for a visionary and hands on Founder CTO to join our team and lead the technological development of this transformative platform. The Opportunity: We're seeking a Founder CTO who is not just a technology leader, but a true partner in building Brickly from the ground up. You'll be the driving force behind our technology strategy, architecting and overseeing the development of our innovative platform. Much like a Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineer, you will be instrumental in building, operating, and maintaining high performance, scalable, and reliable services for our platform. You'll have a deep understanding of the business challenges within the construction industry and a passion for solving them with elegant and scalable technical solutions, leveraging industry leading LLM and AI technology wherever possible. This role demands a forward thinking individual who can leverage the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to efficiently build our platform with optimum resources. You will be provided with access to key tools, best of the state infrastructure, and significant market access to ensure Brickly's success. Responsibilities: Technology Vision & Strategy: Define and communicate Brickly's overarching technology vision and strategy, aligning it with the company's business objectives. Develop a detailed technical roadmap with clear milestones and timelines. Platform Architecture & Development: Architect and oversee the development of Brickly's integrated platform, ensuring scalability, security, and adaptability. Make critical technology decisions across service architecture, data architecture, API design, and technology stack. You will be responsible for the support and operations of Brickly's software, including monitoring and alerting, configuration management, and upgrades. This includes deploying new products and performing migrations to the latest infrastructure types. Business Problem Solving: Work closely with the founding team to deeply understand the pain points of construction companies and translate business requirements into technical solutions. Innovation & Scalability: Drive technological innovation to enhance the platform's features and performance, ensuring a scalable architecture capable of handling future growth. Proactively explore and implement AI driven solutions to optimize platform development and resource utilization. Debug, improve, and optimize Brickly’s services and infrastructure with a focus on long term reliability and scalability. Team Building & Leadership: Attract, recruit, and lead a high performing engineering team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the team. Data Security & Compliance: Develop and implement robust data security measures and ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations. Strategic Technology Decisions: Make informed decisions on build vs. buy, technology stack selection, and vendor partnerships. Evaluate opportunities to leverage AI powered tools and infrastructure for cost effective and efficient development. Reduce manual operations and automate workflows, processes, and/or runbooks where possible. Open API & Integrations: Champion the development and implementation of Brickly's open API strategy to facilitate seamless integration with other industry software. Stakeholder Communication: Represent Brickly's technology to investors, partners, and the broader construction and technology communities. Collaborate closely with the CEO and executive team on overall business strategy.Provide technical troubleshooting support for production issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on operations. Participate in a support on call schedule. Qualifications: Proven experience (8+ years) in software development and architecture, with a strong understanding of building scalable and secure platforms. Significant relevant, post college work experience (2+ years) in a leadership role, preferably as a CTO or VP of Engineering in a startup environment. Strong engineering background, preferred in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, and Data Science. Deep understanding of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices architecture. Strong technical expertise in relevant technologies and frameworks for building complex, integrated software.Strong coder with shown proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Go, Python, JavaScript, or similar languages. Demonstrated ability to build and lead high performing engineering teams. Excellent strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to align technology strategy with business goals. Strong entrepreneurial drive and a passion for building innovative products from the ground up. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non technical audiences. Confidence in troubleshooting complex systems issues independently using observability tools and service logs.Ability to identify and automate highly manual tasks, driving ongoing improvements within and across teams.Comfort with large scale production systems and technologies for example, load balancing, monitoring, distributed systems, or configuration management.Ability to work with a high level of autonomy and responsibility in a rapidly changing environment with dynamic objectives and iteration with users. Experience in the construction technology industry is a significant plus A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
