Job Description

Executive Producer

Key Responsibilities

a) Deal-making & Networking

             •           Cultivate, maintain and expand high-level relationships with key stakeholders in the Tamil film industry — A-list/character actors, directors, composers, lyricists, producers, music labels, OTT acquisitions, trade associations and financiers.

             •           Identify and secure strategic partnerships: co-productions, international sales, OTT licence deals, music-rights deals, sponsorship and branding tie-ups.

             •           Lead negotiations on key contracts: talent deals, director/crew onboarding, music-rights agreements, theatrical/distribution contracts, OTT/TV rights, merchandising/licensing.

             •           Present and pitch projects externally: prepare pitch decks, financial models, talent-line-ups, marketing/roll-out strategies to stakeholders and investors.

             •           Monitor industry trends (Tamil Nadu, Pan-India, overseas Tamil diaspora) and proactively leverage emerging opportunities (e.g., new OTT windowing, international festival circuits, brand integrations).

b) Project Oversight & Production Leadership

             •           Oversee film (or series) projects from early concept through development, pre-production, production, post-production, marketing, release and ancillary windows.

             •           Work closely with Producer and Creative Producer to align on creative vision, budgets, schedules, and commercial objectives.

             •           Establish and monitor production budgets, cost-control frameworks, revenue-share models, profit-participation terms.

             •           Manage risk and contingency planning across all phases – schedule slippages, budget overruns, regulatory/licensing issues (e.g., censor board, film-unit permits, Studio/Studio Complexes).

             •           Coordinate with production units (line producers, production managers, location scouts, art department, legal/compliance, finance, distribution) to ensure smooth execution.

             •           Ensure timely delivery of materials (dailies, edits, locked picture, music masters, assets for marketing) and drive release readiness (certification, prints/digital, marketing collateral, premiere logistics).

c) Revenue & Commercial Management

             •           Define revenue streams and monetisation plans: theatrical, digital/OTT, satellite, music, global rights (Singapore/Malaysia/US/UK, Middle-East), merchandising/licensing, ancillary (airlines/hotels).

             •           Negotiate favourable terms for the company: ensure minimum guarantees, recoupment hurdles, backend participation, co-production agreements with clear IP/rights ownership.

             •           Monitor film P&L, reporting to senior management: track actual vs budget, analyse performance, propose corrective actions.

             •           Work with marketing/distribution teams to optimise release calendar (Tamil and non-Tamil markets), plan dubbed versions, regional strategies, festival premieres, awards campaigns.

d) Leadership & Collaboration

             •           Build and lead a high-performance team: production executives, business affairs staff, legal counsel, liaison officers, marketing/distribution associates.

             •           Act as a key liaison between the creative (directors, writers, composers) and business (finance, distribution, legal) sides — translating creative ambition into commercially viable frameworks.

             •           Foster a culture of accountability, visibility and results-orientation: ensure tasks are tracked, timelines met, budgets controlled, and stakeholder expectations managed.

             •           Serve as key brand ambassador for Beyond Pictures: represent the company at industry events, film markets (e.g., Cannes, AFM, IFFI), networking dinners, trade associations (e.g., TFPC, Film Producers’ Council).

e) Desirable Attributes

             •           Experience in multi-language/OTT-first projects and international co-productions.

             •           Prior relationships with global/Indian sales agents, festival circuits, and international financiers.

             •           Exposure to branded-content, streaming-series, short-form digital content in addition to theatrical films.

             •           Strong personal brand/visibility within the Tamil film circuit; credible to both creative and business stakeholders.

             •           Familiar with emerging media (virtual production, web3, branded IP exploitation) — positioning the company for next-gen content.

f). KPIs & Success Measures

             •           Number of strategic partnerships (OTT deals, music-rights, international co-productions) annually.

             •           Percentage of projects delivered on time, on budget and as per quality standards.

             •           Total revenue and profitability of films/series under supervision (theatrical, OTT, music, global rights).

             •           Growth in company’s brand across Tamil industry (reflected by talent engagement, distributor strength, label tie-ups).

             •           Reduction in cost overruns, schedule delays, and missed delivery milestones.

             •           Employee/team satisfaction and retention in production/business affairs divisions.

             •           Innovation uptake: how many new-format projects (OTT, digital, cross-border) successfully launched.

j). Working Conditions

             •           Predominantly site-based in Chennai (Kotturpuram office) with frequent travel: locations in Tamil Nadu, other Indian states, and international markets (Singapore, Malaysia, Middle East, US/UK) as required.

             •           Flexible working hours: film production is non-linear — may require night shoots, weekend work, last-minute deal-meetings.

             •           Occasional presence at film festivals, markets and company promotional events.

h). Offer & Remuneration

             •           Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, plus performance bonus tied to commercial success and KPIs.

             •           Participation in backend/producer credits

             •           Full access to company resources (office, production team support, travel budget, industry contacts).

             •           Opportunity to shape the future direction of Beyond Pictures and become a senior executive in a growth-oriented film production house.
