Job Title: Senior ETL Developer - SAS (BFSI) Department: Data Management & Analytics Reporting To: Lead Data Engineer / Manager, Data Warehousing Location: Kolkata, West Bengal, India Experience: 7-10 Years Job Summary: The Senior ETL Developer - SAS (BFSI) will be a key contributor to the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the bank's data integration and warehousing solutions, with a strong specialization in SAS ETL tools and technologies. Leveraging their extensive experience within the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) domain, the successful candidate will be responsible for building robust, scalable, and efficient data pipelines to support critical business functions, regulatory reporting, risk management, and analytics initiatives. This role requires deep expertise in SAS data integration components, a solid understanding of BFSI data landscapes and regulations, strong SQL skills, and excellent problem-solving and communication abilities. Responsibilities: SAS ETL Development: Design, develop, and implement complex ETL processes and workflows using SAS Data Integration Studio, SAS Enterprise Guide, and other SAS ETL-related tools to extract data from various source systems relevant to the BFSI sector (e.g., core banking, transactional systems, insurance platforms, market data feeds), transform it according to business rules and regulatory requirements, and load it into target data warehouses or data marts. BFSI Data Expertise: Apply a strong understanding of BFSI data models, common data elements, and industry-specific regulations (e.g., BASEL, RBI guidelines, Solvency II, IFRS) to ensure data integration processes meet compliance and business needs. Performance Optimization: Identify and implement performance tuning techniques for SAS ETL jobs, SAS procedures, and SQL queries to ensure optimal system performance and efficient data processing of large BFSI datasets. Data Quality and Governance: Implement and enforce data quality checks and validation rules within SAS ETL processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity, adhering to the bank's data governance policies and BFSI-specific data quality standards. Troubleshooting and Support: Investigate and resolve data integration issues specific to SAS environments and BFSI data flows, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions. Provide expert-level support and maintenance for existing SAS ETL processes and data pipelines. Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for SAS ETL processes, data mappings, SAS code, workflows, and system configurations, ensuring compliance with BFSI documentation standards. Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts, business users across various BFSI domains (e.g., Retail Banking, Corporate Banking, Risk, Finance, Insurance), and other IT teams to understand data requirements, translate them into technical specifications for SAS ETL development, and deliver effective data integration solutions. SAS Platform Management: Contribute to the administration and maintenance of the SAS platform, including performance monitoring, security configurations, and upgrades related to SAS ETL components. Technology Evaluation: Evaluate new SAS features and related technologies to identify potential improvements to the bank's data integration capabilities within the SAS ecosystem. Automation: Identify opportunities to automate SAS ETL processes, data quality checks, and monitoring activities using SAS scripting and scheduling tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort. Security and Compliance: Ensure that SAS ETL processes and data handling comply with the bank's security policies and relevant BFSI regulatory requirements. Mentoring: Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior SAS ETL developers within the team, promoting best practices in SAS development within the BFSI context. Required Skills and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Economics, or a related field. Proven experience of 7-10 years in designing, developing, and implementing ETL solutions with a strong focus on SAS ETL tools (SAS Data Integration Studio, SAS Enterprise Guide, Base SAS, SAS Procedures) . Deep understanding of the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) domain, including common data models, business processes, and regulatory requirements. Strong proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases relevant to the BFSI sector (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, DB2). Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and ETL best practices within the context of BFSI data. Experience with various data formats common in BFSI (e.g., fixed-width, delimited, XML, regulatory reporting formats) and data transfer protocols. Extensive experience in performance tuning of SAS ETL jobs, SAS code, and SQL queries for large BFSI datasets. Strong understanding and practical application of data quality management principles and tools within SAS. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills specifically related to SAS ETL and BFSI data challenges. Strong communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in the BFSI context. Ability to work independently and lead technical aspects of projects within a team. Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git). Preferred Skills: Advanced SAS certifications (e.g., SAS Certified Data Integration Developer, SAS Certified Advanced Programmer). Experience with SAS analytical tools (e.g., SAS Enterprise Miner, SAS Visual Analytics) and how they integrate with SAS ETL processes in a BFSI setting. Knowledge of data governance frameworks and tools relevant to the financial industry. Experience with cloud-based data warehousing and ETL services and their integration with SAS. Familiarity with scripting languages like Python or Shell scripting for automation and integration with SAS. Exposure to big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and their interaction with SAS in a BFSI environment. Experience with data virtualization technologies. Understanding of data security and compliance standards relevant to the BFSI sector.
