Job Description – R&R Instrumentation Engineer
Role Overview:-We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation Engineer to ensure the reliable operation, safety, and compliance of all plant instrumentation and control systems. The role involves maintenance, calibration, project execution, energy optimization, and people development, while driving excellence in safety, quality, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities1. Plant & Equipment Maintenance Ensure plant and equipment are well maintained and safe to operate.
Support plant operations by fulfilling daily maintenance requirements.
Maintain an updated list of instruments and systems at site.
Prepare and update annual calibration schedules in coordination with stakeholders.
Ensure 100% adherence to calibration, preventive, and breakdown maintenance schedules.
Close all equipment notifications with history in SAP on time.
Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and close all CAPAs within defined timelines.
Maintain equipment availability: 99.5%+ for critical equipment, 98% for other equipment, 100% for safety-critical equipment.
Monitor and control annual engineering budgets and prepare zero-based maintenance budgets.
Plan phase-wise replacement of aging equipment.
Review and maintain minimum–maximum spare levels ensuring 100% availability.
Prepare and submit daily/weekly/monthly MIS reports, dashboards, IRM presentations, and ensure SAP PM module compliance.
Ensure compliance with legal, metrology, and statutory requirements.
Execute projects as per equipment layout and P&ID.
Ensure uninterrupted operation of plant machinery, utility equipment, fire hydrant and alarm systems.
2. Safety & Safe Working Practices Ensure compliance with EHS requirements and local regulatory norms.
Strive for zero reportable incidents.
Maintain equipment integrity to avoid injury and property damage.
Implement EHS, TPM, 5S, JH, 360-degree guarding, leak-free/dust-free systems.
Ensure compliance with ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 standards.
Maintain up-to-date compliance with LEGATRIX requirements.
3. Quality Assurance Ensure equipment failures do not impact product quality.
Reduce repeat failures by 50% YoY.
Review and improve PM checklists based on inspection outcomes, RCA, and FMEA.
Maintain and optimize IoT, DCS, data collection and analysis systems, using insights to minimize stoppages.
4. Energy Conservation & Cost Saving Ensure energy-intensive equipment runs efficiently without wastage.
Implement and monitor energy-saving measures, tracking committed savings.
Phase out inefficient equipment to enhance plant energy performance.
Drive innovation and new practices to reduce asset management costs.
5. People & Contract Management Develop team members and ensure contractor capability development.
Ensure only trained personnel are deployed for critical jobs.
Ensure completion of all role-based trainings for self and team members.
Skills & Competencies Strong expertise in instrumentation, control systems, calibration, and preventive maintenance.
Proficiency in RCA, FMEA, SAP (PM module), and budget management.
Knowledge of EHS, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 standards.
Hands-on experience in IoT, DCS, automation systems, and engineering projects.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and team leadership skills.
Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Instrumentation/Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
8–12 years of relevant experience in plant instrumentation and control systems.
Experience in calibration, preventive & predictive maintenance, SAP PM, and utility management.
Exposure to EHS, energy efficiency, and ISO compliance preferred.
