Your Impact
As the Director of Architecture for our Growth, Marketing & Sales (GM&S) practice, you are more than a technical leader; you are the visionary shaping the future of McKinsey's client-facing technology.You will set the architectural direction for a complex suite of data-intensive SaaS products, ensuring they are scalable, integrated, and at the forefront of innovation. This is a strategic leadership role with deep technical accountability. You will guide teams of talented architects and engineers, collaborate with product leaders to turn business vision into technical reality, and foster a culture of engineering excellence across the organization.In this role you will: define the architectural vision; own and drive the end-to-end technical strategy for our RGMx product suite; develop and communicate a clear architectural roadmap to integrate disparate products into a seamless, data-driven platform; lead technical execution; guide engineering teams through complex challenges in software design, data engineering, analytics, and cloud infrastructure; champion best practices by leading architecture reviews, authoring key Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and ensuring our solutions are secure, scalable, and resilient; and drive innovation. You will act as a thought leader, staying ahead of technology trends and identifying opportunities to apply new tools and methodologies (from cloud-native patterns to emerging AI applications) to solve critical business problems. You will elevate our engineering culture, mentoring and coaching technical leads and senior engineers, growing their skills and fostering a high-performance, collaborative environment. You will set the bar for engineering quality, modern development practices (TDD, CI/CD), and operational excellence.You’ll be aligned primarily with Periscope’s technology team. Your Qualifications and Skills
- A Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred, minimum an engineering degree
- 16+ years in software engineering, with at least 8+ years in a software architecture leadership role (e.g., Principal Architect, Chief Architect, or Director)
- Strong experience with Azure cloud infrastructure, services, and security
- Deep knowledge of data processing at scale using technologies like Spark or Databricks
- Expertise in designing data persistence strategies across relational (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) databases. Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience building and designing for BI and data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI)
- Proven success in architecting, delivering, and scaling complex, data-driven, customer-facing SaaS products, preferably in an enterprise context
- Polyglot expertise with a deep understanding of system design trade-offs. While you have broad experience, you have depth in Python-based ecosystems.
- A strong advocate for modern engineering practices, including microservices, event-driven architecture, CI/CD, and test-driven development
- Exceptional ability to influence and lead without direct authority, mentor technical talent, and communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
