IT&S GroupYou will work withBeing part of the Production digitial delivery data group, you will apply your domain knowledge and familiarity with domain data processes to support the Production organisation, which is part of bp’s Production & Operations business with hubs in London, Pune, and Houston. The team provides daily operational data management, data engineering and analytics support to this organisation across a broad range of disciplines and petro-technical applications.Let me tell you about the roleAs a Data Specialist, you will work alongside business experts to define, implement, and enforce data standards and quality. You use your expertise in petro-technical applications to effectively address data challenges and leveraging your in-depth knowledge of the business domain, you will ensure the integrity of data critical to safety and business operations. The role involves collaborating with data engineers, data stewards, data analysts and scientists to optimize data workflows and enhance overall data accessibility and usability.What you will deliver

• Collaborate with business experts to define, implement, and enforce data standards and quality rules. Work is to be prioritised based on maintaining integrity of safety and business critical data.
• Applying data governance and master data management in your data domain – co-developing this with the SMEs in domains such as Geophysics, Geology, Petrophysics, Reservoir Engineering and Production Engineering in order to support safe and efficient operations in the business domain.
• Act as a custodian of Production data, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and compliance across the organization, prioritising safety and operational efficiency for the business. Your focus areas will include: production data sets, production accounting, forecasting and production optimisation
• Enforce data governance policies, standards, and regulations; participate in improvement of these based on business need.
• Assess, report on and resolve data quality issues through root cause analysis and remediation planning. Ensure that data, documents and models represent the physical reality of our assets.
• Responsible for compliance with regulations, standards and codes of good practice relating to domain data, document and models management, assurance, and data protection.
• Monitoring, reporting and driving data quality, including raising issues either for acceptance of thresholds or required remediations
• Crafting, remediating and maintaining business glossaries and data definitions; working with the wider data team to ensure data is catalogued in a business accessible way
• Work as part of a cross-disciplinary team, collaborating with data managers, analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders.
• Mentor and guide junior data specialists, data stewards and data analysts.
  

What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)Essential

:

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in one of Geology, Geophysics, Geoscience Petroleum Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience
• 5+ years of experience in data centric roles across Production Engineering
• Experience of data governance and management processes specific to wells and subsurface data
• Strong understanding of business work processes and ability to translate business needs into data-driven solutions.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  

Desired:

• Experience in project and operational phases within wells and subsurface data management
• Experience with EnergySys and/or EnergyComponents
• Experience working with both business and technical teams, acting as a bridge between work process and driving value from data
