Cloud Operations Engineer

Responsibilities

• Participate in the management and monitoring of all cloud infrastructure, including after hours and weekend deployments of production and OS updates as needed.
• Support multiple aspects our hosting environments while working towards being a lead expert in areas
• Prioritize and work on alerts and tickets that are generated by monitoring systems and opened by various groups that relate to our hosting environments.
• Interact with customers including escalated support for problems and issues. Configure and deploy monitoring tools and scripts for systems and applications.
• Maintain backup and recovery solution for customers' cloud computing resources. Develop runbooks and documentation to strengthen our team’s efficiency, increase our response times, and exceed our SLAs
• Other cloud / system engineering tasks as assigned include but not limited to, Installations, scaling servers, migrating customer environments, solving infrastructure issues, taking backups, etc.
• Act as part of a 24x7 team with an on-call rotation element during off hours for infrastructure escalations from the support teams, customer infrastructure maintenance, and infrastructure alerts from our monitoring platforms.
  

Education / Qualifications

• BS. degree in a technical disciple (Computer Science or similar)
• 3-5 years of experience in Systems Administration
• Proficiency and Proven Hands-on experience AWS Services; EC2, CloudFormation, VPC, ELB, AWS Security, S3, RDS, EBS, ECS.
• Solid skills in Linux (AWS Linux 2 / Red Hat) and Windows Server.
• Understanding of TCP/IP networking technologies and troubleshooting techniques in a cloud environment.
• Knowledge in Operations Automation scripting, like PowerShell/Linux Shell, Ansible, Python
• Experience in working with Java-based Web Applications, Tomcat, etc.
• Experience in Managing DB Servers such as MySQL, MS SQL, and Oracle including Amazon RDS.
• Excellent customer facing skills, meeting customers and handling their cloud hosting requests.
• Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills and experience.
• Experience in monitoring tools.
• AWS Certification is a big plus, AWS Certified Solution Architect/ AWS Certified SysOps Engineer.
• Container Based Hosting experience using Docker and AWS Container Service is a great plus.
• Experience in IT standards such as ITIL, PCI or ISO 27001.
• Experience in working in a ticket driven environment as well as handling project tasks via a SCRUM based model.
