Cloud Network Engineer

Job Summary: The Level 3 Cloud Network Engineer is a senior technical expert responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex cloud-based and hybrid network environments. This role requires deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), advanced routing and switching, security configurations, and high availability network architecture. The engineer will lead escalation support for critical incidents, drive network automation efforts, and provide guidance to Level 1 and 2 engineers. Key Responsibilities: • Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available cloud network architectures. • Configure and manage Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), Transit Gateways, Direct Connect/ExpressRoute, VPNs, subnets, routing tables, and security groups. • Lead resolution of Level 3 network escalations, performing root cause analysis and preventive maintenance. • Manage hybrid connectivity between on-premise data centers and cloud infrastructure. • Ensure network compliance, auditing, and security controls are in place (e.g., firewall policies, NAC, encryption). • Utilize IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) and automation scripts (Python, Ansible) for network provisioning and management. • Monitor network performance and proactively address latency, jitter, or packet loss issues using tools like CloudWatch, Datadog, NetFlow, or SolarWinds. • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to L1/L2 engineers and participate in knowledge-sharing initiatives. • Collaborate with application, security, and DevOps teams for integrated cloud solutions. • Maintain documentation of network designs, change management logs, and technical procedures. Qualifications: Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. • Industry certifications such as: o AWS Advanced Networking Specialty o Cisco CCNP/CCIE o GCP Professional Cloud Network Engineer Experience: • 5+ years of experience in network engineering, with at least 2+ years in cloud network environments. • Proven experience managing complex multi-cloud or hybrid network environments. Technical Skills: • Cloud Platforms: AWS (VPC, TGW, Direct Connect), Azure (VNets, ExpressRoute), GCP (VPC, Interconnects). • Networking Protocols: BGP, OSPF, IPSec, GRE, NAT, DNS, DHCP. • Security: Firewall configuration (Palo Alto, Fortinet, AWS NACLs/Security Groups), VPNs, ZTNA. • Automation & Tools: Terraform, Ansible, Python, Git. • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Wireshark, OPManager, NetFlow, CloudWatch, ELK, Zabbix, Splunk. Soft Skills: • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. • Strong collaboration skills across departments and vendors.
