Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled FAB Expert – Classified HVAC Specialist to lead and optimize HVAC engineering efforts for semiconductor and battery fabrication (FAB) facilities. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in cleanroom HVAC systems including AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, air distribution systems including laminar and turbulent systems and ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and operational standards. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving innovative solutions for process efficiency and cost optimization.

Responsibilities:

Process Design & Optimization:

  • Review engineering drawings, airflow and temperature/ humidity control systems for ISO 14644 compliance.
  • Ensure compatibility with semiconductor process tools and cleanroom requirements.
  • Coordinate with tool vendors and process engineers for exhaust load calculations and interface requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate process bottlenecks through continuous improvement initiatives.

Equipment & Technology Integration:

  • Ensure proper integration with Building Management Systems (BMS) and safety interlocks.
  • Ensure uptime and reliability of exhaust systems supporting critical process tools.
  • Collaborate with vendors for equipment selection, installation, and validation.
  • Hands on experience on software such as HAP/ELITE/CFD modelling other heat load calculations software is essential.

Compliance & Standards:

  • Ensure adherence to environmental regulations, quality assurance, and semiconductor industry standards.
  • Work with regulatory bodies and internal teams to meet safety and environmental requirements.
  • Familiarity with International standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, OSHA, ANSI, IMC, TIA, Uptime Institute etc. and local country standards.

Collaboration & Coordination:

  • Work closely with client, architects, MEP engineers, and facility planners for efficient utility layout designs.
  • Co-ordinate with vendors and OEMs to ensure adherence to project timelines and specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support training initiatives.

Project Documentation:

  • Understanding the requirements and prepare technical documentation, DBR, PFD, P&ID, equipment specifications and reports.
  • Support feasibility studies, cost analysis, and risk assessments for FAB projects.
  • Vendor evaluation and selection, Vendor Engineering Reviews.
  • Piping Layouts / Piping Distribution, Isometric Drawing preparation, BOQ generations.
  • Process inputs for Control Logics.
  • Assist in commissioning, qualification, and validation (CQV) of FAB processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in semiconductor fabrication facilities and clean/GMP manufacturing facilities or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of cleanroom protocols and exhaust system design.
  • Experience with CFD analysis and simulation tools.
  • Strong knowledge of utility design for the semiconductor FABs.
  • Familiarity with international standards (SEMI, ASHRAE, NFPA, ISO).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, airflow simulation tools, and MS Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in greenfield and brownfield FAB design.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices in semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Understanding of local authority regulations for FAB facility approvals and permitting.

  • Ability to resolve conflict and solve problems while leading by example.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of building components, process, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
