Purpose of the Role:

Sourcing, Buying and Category Development for food ingredients


Qualification & Experience:

  • Graduate/Post Graduate in Food Technology/Agriculture Science preferred. Else, Engineering graduate with relevant experience
  • 3 to 5 years experience in foods ingredient sourcing/buying, especially

    seasoning, spices, flavours, oleoresins


Knowledge, Skills & Competencies­:

  • Functional Knowledge of foods and agriculture commodities including value chain -

    seasoning, spices, flavours, oleoresin, extracts, starch, flour, additives

    , and prior experience with executing procurement for these categories
  • Understanding of IPM, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), Rainforest Alliance (RFA) Certification, Contract & Organic Farming, FSA Certification is preferred

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage procurement of seasoning, flavors, spices, flours, starches, oleoresins, yeasts and other food ingredients
  • Ensure uninterrupted and consistent supply of compliant RMs from approved suppliers to Marico facilities
  • Coordinate with existing vendors to improve on quality, cost, innovation, delivery and sustainability metrics
  • Analyse key market trends, competition buying, market dynamics for effective price forecast and drive negotiation strategy for long term contracts
  • Regularly conduct market survey and vendor visits to understand crop progress, stock availability, assess quality, and execute procurement strategy
  • Direct interaction with farmers, traders and processors for category development to ensure sustainable sourcing of ingredients
  • Deliver cost efficiency through execution of strategic sourcing levers.
  • Assessment of capabilities of new vendors through facility visits, vendor development as per defined quality standards and improving their processes through vendor performance rating
  • Lead New Vendor Development and manage entire onboarding process (identification of potential suppliers, product and specifications briefing, product approval, facility audit, pre-shipment sample, and commercial product approval)
  • Own and deliver on KPIs like OTIF, production compliance, coverage norms, vendor scorecard, commercial scorecard
  • Manage Procure to Pay process by monitoring purchase orders, dispatch, payments and account reconciliation
  • Building & managing relationships with internal & external stakeholders to execute business needs, resolve bottlenecks and deliver on performance, cost & quality
  • Ensure compliance to regulations by executing traceability initiatives, working on backward integration to build transparent and sustainable supply chain
  • Role will involve extensive travel to producers and vendors for category insight, average 1-2 weeks per month
