Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Manager – Mechanical Procurement to manage the sourcing, negotiation, and procurement of mechanical parts and assemblies used in the manufacturing of medical equipment. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience in mechanical procurement within the medical device or healthcare equipment industry and a strong understanding of regulatory and quality standards. Responsibilities Mechanical Component Procurement: Source and procure precision mechanical components including CNC machined parts, sheet metal enclosures, castings, fasteners, custom assemblies, and specialized materials used in medical device manufacturing. Vendor Development & Management: Identify, evaluate, and qualify new vendors. Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing suppliers to ensure consistent quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery. Cost Optimization & Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts with suppliers. Drive cost-saving initiatives through alternate sourcing, VA/VE, and volume-based agreements. Regulatory & Quality Compliance: Ensure all procured components comply with ISO 13485, CE marking, and other applicable medical equipment standards. Work closely with Quality Assurance for vendor audits and first article inspections. Cross-functional Coordination: Collaborate with Design, R&D, Production, and Quality teams to understand technical requirements and align procurement activities accordingly. Procurement Planning & Inventory Control: Monitor material requirements using MRP/ERP systems. Maintain optimal stock levels to avoid shortages and minimize excess inventory. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier contracts, and performance data. Generate weekly/monthly reports on procurement KPIs, vendor ratings, and cost savings. Qualifications Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. (Additional certifications in Materials Management or Supply Chain will be a plus.) Experience: Minimum 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in mechanical procurement. Prior experience in medical equipment or healthcare manufacturing industry is mandatory. Required Skills Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, tolerances, and manufacturing processes. Good knowledge of supplier markets for fabricated, machined, and precision components. Proficient in ERP systems. Excellent communication, negotiation, and vendor management skills. Preferred Skills Additional certifications in Materials Management or Supply Chain. Show more Show less
