Job purpose


To contribute towards the development of, and manage implementation and delivery of a comprehensive, efficient and effective student outreach and recruitment strategy for UG/PG programmes, ensuring a strong pipeline of prospective students and contributing to the institution’s financial health and academic vibrancy.


This includes the co-ordination and execution of direct outreach initiatives, open days, events, and career fairs, with accountability for generating quality leads and meeting application and enrolment targets.


To build and sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders including schools, community organisations, prospective students, and their families, while ensuring a diverse and high-quality student body.


To work collaboratively with the marketing and conversion teams to maximise the impact of communications channels (e.g., PR, media, webinars, talks, open days) and contribute to student life cycle activities pre-enrolment, including conversion and retention initiatives.

This varied role requires relevant experience in a similar setting, as well as the use of independent judgment and initiative along with a strong administrative, teamwork and results orientation. Understanding of the requirements in representing a global top 100 and UK Russell Group university is a must.



Main duties and responsibilities


1. Act as the specialist responsible for delivering student recruitment activity for the University in specific regions.


  • Devising recruitment, conversion and partnership strategies for each priority market, bidding for budget, implementing the assigned budget, analyzing the success of activities and supporting CRM initiatives across the University. This requires the ability to exercise initiative, work independently using sound judgement and to use innovative thinking.
  • Travel frequently, according to the agreed market plan to assigned markets, having arranged the itinerary for maximum impact.


2. Provide specialist market advice and information, practical assistance and encouragement to the University of Southampton Delhi’s academic groupings in their student recruitment and partnership activities.


  • Present convincing market analyses and ability to support colleagues' efforts.
  • Complete regular reports for a range of audiences to provide statistical and trend analysis, benchmarking activities, market research, horizon scanning and competitor analysis.


3. Build up expert cultural knowledge and market intelligence to inform strategies for the Recruitment, Marketing and Admissions Team, and sharing this with the International Office at UoS


4. Develop long-term sustainable relationships with key influencers, developing and maintaining a wide range of contacts with international schools, colleges, universities, funding bodies (including government ministries, embassies, etc). British Council, and University of Southampton alumni and others, as appropriate to the context of the market, in pursuit of the main functions of the post.


5. Developing outreach strategies, leading and mentoring the team, overseeing operational execution of outreach initiatives. Contribute, as a senior member of the Recruitment & Admissions department, towards broader initiatives to ensure and implement excellent applicants and student experience.


6. Any other duties as allocated by the line manager following consultation with the post holder.

  • Embedding University of Southampton Delhi Policy.
  • Occasional requirements to work outside your normal working hours (which may include evenings or weekends) in negotiation with your line manager.
  • Minimum 50% travel across India

Qualifications, knowledge and experience


  • Bachelors in a relevant field.
  • 5 Years of Experience in supporting international student recruitment.
  • Experience of UK higher education, either through possession of a UK higher education qualification, or experience of working with or for a UK university
  • Experience of supporting the development, monitoring and maintenance of university partnerships for the benefit of the broader institution.
  • Previous experience of managing budgets.
  • Marketing and communications skills, including experience of creating and measuring in-region social media strategies.
  • High level of competence using IT, including the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Masters level qualification in marketing & Sales.
