Roles and Responsibilities of an Automation Project Manager

• Project Planning & Execution
  

 Define project scope, objectives, and timelines in alignment with business goals.
 Create detailed project plans for automation initiatives including tasks, resources,dependencies, and milestones. Manage end-to-end delivery of automation solutions—from requirement gatheringto post-deployment support.

• Stakeholder Communication
  

 Act as a single point of contact between technical teams, leadership, and customers.
 Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project status, risks, and progress. Conduct presentations and demos to showcase automation value and outcomes.

• Requirements Gathering
  

 Collaborate with operations, engineering, and process owners to identify repetitive,
manual tasks suitable for automation. Translate business problems into technical use cases.

• Resource & Task Management
  

 Coordinate with developers, testers, and infrastructure teams for timely task
execution. Manage resource allocation, skill alignment, and track deliverables.

• Risk Management
  

 Identify potential risks related to timelines, technology compatibility, and
operational impact. Define mitigation plans and fallback strategies.

• Quality & Compliance
  

 Ensure all automation solutions are compliant with internal IT policies and external
regulations (e.g., for BFSI or healthcare). Oversee testing phases to validate automation workflows before deployment.

• Documentation & Reporting
  

 Maintain detailed documentation of requirements, designs, test plans, and
runbooks. Generate project reports, ROI analysis, and dashboards for leadership review.

• Process Optimization & Innovation
  

 Recommend process improvements through automation.
 Stay updated with emerging technologies like RPA, Ansible, ServiceNow, Terraform,etc., and introduce innovative solutions.

• Dashboard creation in Smartsheet
  

 Using the existing project intake prepare the Dashboard for VP/Directors in
Smartsheet.Essential Skillset:- Smartsheet - Mandatory Certification - PMP/Prince2 - Mandatory ITIL - V3/V4 - Foundation certified.
